One nice thing with Nylander is that this is essentially year 1 of his ELC. There's still time to be patient with him.

this...and there's no reason that one of baptiste or bailey (even both) shouldn't get a long look in buffalo for a season...

Exactly No need to rush to sign a contract or anything it’s a good deal right Now

I’m hoping he comes prepared for camp injury free and ready to kick some ass

He’s a free agent lol it’s not like I’m signing him to a seven-year contract

You trade a A bunch of nothing pieces for those two players besides Jake

That’s a good deal and flip Helm for a 2nd at the deadline that’s Basically free money

You need to open up a business book

I think you can count on Bailey & Baptiste making the roster
If the plan was to send them down & risk waivers, they would’ve just not qualified them to begin with & let them go UFA

That conclusion makes no sense. They may play well enough to win a spot, they may clear waivers, you could most likely trade them.....there's just no reason not to qualify them, even if you consider them bubble players coming into camp.

Robin Lehner didn't get qualified because of his exorbitant salary coupled with his inability to be a #1 goalie. The fact he doesn't have a job right now exemplifies the fact that he was untradable.

These kids on the other hand still not only have potential, but are cheap assets and could fit anywhere into a teams org. If they can't make the team, JB will judge their trade value, and if no one bites, he will put them on waivers, and they will ultimately play for the Amerks as "Vets"

Pominville will be an asset at the deadline.

Buffalo could be loaded with Picks this year.

Larsson/Girgs - 3rd rd picks
Pominville (Salary retain) - 2nd rd pick
Bowl-U - 4th

possibly
3 firsts
2 2nds
3 3rds
2 fourths

That's a lot to do damage with.

Do u remember last uear’s Trade deadline when no one would give us anything for Pouliot?

Teams don’t seem to be trading for depth forwards anymore
So idk if we will get anything at all for those guys...
and almost definitely not 2nd & 3rds
Maybe some 4ths or later,
if we are lucky

Lou is SO vengeful of the Leafs that he took garbage from them to open their cap space up.

I agree with all of this. Botts had a nice draft, made a savvy move for Sheary and Hunwick, but his trade deadline left a bit to be desired.
