He looks like a star in the making yes. But he's played 6 games in the NHL. I just can't get behind calling him 1/2 of the best one-two punch in sabres history yet...

We crowned eichel the number 1C while he was still at Boston.

In this NHL the young kids at the top of their drafts can step right in.

The leafs a few years ago proved that. The entire nhl laughed at the amount of unproven players they put on the ice and they were one of the more fun teams to watch and they made the playoffs.

Now, I don’t see the Sabres coming anywhere close to the playoffs unless the kids mesh like the leaves did, but I think they will do fine and it will be fun to watch.

Talent with growing pains will be 100x more fun to watch than horrible excuse for nhl hockey we had last year

I fell in love with the Sabres during the Brier/Drury era. I don't think we are close to what that duo/team brought in terms of chemistry, entertainment, balance, leadership. Eichel is a star player and Casey is a 19 year old with big time potential. Remains to be seen whether they are more than that and/or can actually lead a team to greatness.

Eichel will be a top 10 player in this league. Mittelstadt has the potential to be a top 15 player in this league. I know it’s early but what he’s shown playing against guys his own age and what he did in 6 games last year with the big club was impressive. Dahlin has the potential to be a Norris Candidate defenseman. As much as it would suck to watch another year of losing, can you imagine if we added another top 5 pick to that core ? Especially with an additional two first rounders and 30M + of cap space. Could be a recipe for a dynasty.

I don’t think they are tanking again, I’m just saying if we don’t make the playoffs it’s not the end of the world. Think of it this way. How much more dangerous would toronto be this year if instead of miracualousy making the playoffs the last two seasons they had an additional two top 10 draft picks in their lineup this year instead ? Including the Assets they could of received if they traded JVR and Bozak last summer.

Yeah, could be another tough year, but I want see huge improvements. After all, ROR ant here anymore. Also, I think this board will be more enjoyable if it’s actually acceptable to root for wins again.

I think the Atlantic division is giving the Central it’s run for its money as the best division in hockey. Tampa, Toronto, Florida, Boston is going to be a bloodbath. I think if everything goes right we have a shot at the last wild card spot. But we’ll have to beat out Philly, CBJ, Carolina.
