I think Babtiste has earned himself a role on the team after last season as long as he comes out strong this year. The problem I have is Babtiste has the ability to be a top 6 scoring winger (See Juniors with McDavid) but whenever he gets a chance to play he is put on the 3rd or 4th line. I want to see these players get a chance to succeed in a role they are more suited for, it worked for Vegas, instead of trying to make them play roles they are not suited for in the bottom 6 especially on the 4th line. And giving them 1 or 2 games doesn't count. No Wonder some people have given up on them they haven't really been given an extended chance to succeed. |

Amen. I am skeptical it happens, though. Coaches seem to hate having their employment future riding on younguns in the top 6. But so many times we see young players do what is asked, have a great training camp, and still get demoted while we start the year with Pommer and Pouliot in the top 6 and Larsson and Girgs not far behind. |

Not sure why the hate for Lehner? He didn't turn out, but (1) he didn't trade a 1st to get himself, (2) the team in front of him was a disaster, and (3) he actually seemed to care - turbo044

Hi there @carolinatitan10 I can answer that for you. I just don’t care to hand my phone to someone to video me working out in the gym. I don’t need social media to solidify my own hard work. Have a great 4th!

I've got to ask, where are the training pics like i see from other NHL professionals? It's time to get deadly serious about hockey here...be part of the answer or turn in your jersey. |

I have to disagree yes he was on the 3rd line but his job was to prove to the Sabres" hey this is not where I'm supposed to be" he didn't just played like a average player that we've seen over the years maybe next time
he should show he belongs like Casey did now that's a guy that "earned it" |

He looks like a star in the making yes. But he's played 6 games in the NHL. I just can't get behind calling him 1/2 of the best one-two punch in sabres history yet... - MCGUIZZY
He thinks Mitts will put up Barzal-like production
Except he didn’t know (supposedly) what Barzal’s production was
So i think he amended his projections to 65pts |

Just that he’s never seen a team basically give up trying to sign a player as good as Karlsson so quickly, and the fact that he’s allowed to negotiate a contract with other teams is crazy - sbroads24
Karlsson supposedly told them LAST year he wasn’t re-signing
They hoped to change his mind
I guess they didn’t
Can’t blame him for wanting out
ESP when it took them so long to move Hoffman
Even beyond that though, Ottawa is a mess
Their owner is cheap, & nuts |

I fell in love with the Sabres during the Brier/Drury era. I don't think we are close to what that duo/team brought in terms of chemistry, entertainment, balance, leadership. Eichel is a star player and Casey is a 19 year old with big time potential. Remains to be seen whether they are more than that and/or can actually lead a team to greatness. - MCGUIZZY
Even putting them on a list of great Sabres duos is extremely premature at this point

Bailey had 3pts in 4 games before he was demoted
Gotta give these guys a shot,
and keep them in the top9
Not demote them after 1 bad game
Just bc they aren’t “Casey” doesn’t mean they can’t be decent players who fill a role
I’d be totally ok with seeing what
Bailey-Mittelstadt-Baptiste could do
I’d even be ok if they were Eichel’s wingers if they wanted to spread out Sheary & Okposo & Sam onto 2 other scoring lines
Can always switch things up if it’s not working |

The Islanders are going sabres 2.0 when they lost Drury , Danny
Barzal’s (vanek) this year the Islanders are going to ask the world of him and he's going to struggle all because they didn't trade to get him help just like they did to John Tavares |

Isles should sell off Bailey, Leddy, etc and tank for Hughes
Barzal, Bellows, Whalstrom & Dobson is a really nice group of youngsters to start a “core”
If they could add Hughes,
and then a top5 pick next year too...
That’s what I’d do if i were Lou anyways |

We do have 3 extra forwards & 3 extra defensemen though

I’m hoping part of it was that we wanted to get a real look at the top 6 players.
I don’t subscribe to the stealth tank theory at all, but I think it was more of a let’s take the pain, see exactly what the top 6 can do, and let it play out so that gmjb could take inventory of this mess.
I really don’t think we were actively trying very hard to win last year, gmjb needed to see the suffering first hand like a stress test on the team before he could go about fixing it. |

Idk about Hutton?
Berglund & Sobatka are ok,
but more of the same slow players i thought we were trying to move on from
I know they’re both legit NHLers
But i think I’d rather see some of our young, speedy guys in the lineup
That ROR trade makes very little sense to me
I think Botts may have gotten schooled
When’s the last time someone took TWO cap dumps in a trade? If ever...?
Let’s say we got the draft picks for taking those contracts...
that means all we got for O’Reilly was Thompson
Btw, what do u think of Thompson?
I’m not impressed
Idk that he will score goals at the NHL level
And he’s not a great skater (he’s ok)
None of the guys we got in that trade fit the style Botts supposedly wants |
