Owners pushing for this. Don't be surprised if one of the Isles 1st round pickups this past draft part of this. Or Both.

No thanks then. This team is going into some semblance of a rebuild with JT walking out the door, there's no getting around it. These half-a**ed attempts at "competitive rebuilding" don't work. I'd rather hold onto those kids we just drafted and re-build at this point.

If JT had stayed, i would have been more than willing to make that kind of trade, to ADD Karlsson to the team with JT on it. That would make sense. But moving all that young talent and picks for Karlsson now just doesn't make sense. At best, his acquisition gets the isles back to where they were, a middling franchise scraping at the last playoff spots. I'd rather not continue that trend.

So as you guys can see I haven't been on much in a very long time due to medical school and life in general. Unfortunately the past couple of years I haven't had time for much hockey watching either. I am absolutely devastated we lost JT. I remember how excited we all were when we landed him (almost a decade ago already). Now we are moving on with Barzal and I admittedly know very little about him. Was he always projected to be franchise player good? Was last year a fluke or is he really that good? I certainly hope he is as good as his numbers show. If that's the case, the Isles will be in very good shape.

If JT is asking for Bailey with the nice fixed contract, can we get something that is "future expensive" from them?

He is good. P. Kane good but I see teams adjusting against him easily with this lineup.

Won't happen. No team is going to trade for Karlson until they pre-negotiate an extension. Karlsson wants to play for a playoff ready team, and no offense, this team still has some serious issues to address before they are a contender. I could see him going to Vegas/Devils/Stars before going to NYI.
