Hearing similar rumblings on #TBLightning being eventual landing spot for Karlsson. Wouldn’t be surprised, though no guarantees with deal of this magnitude. Couple days ago the Stars were considered front runners, per @seanshapiro. TB could get a 3rd team involved to move salary. |

Really? That's two first rounders (w/ the potential for a lottery pick)...a solid top 6/potentially top 4 d-man with more upside ahead of him (McCabe)...a forward with top 6 potential (Nylander)...a top 9 forward (Baptiste)...and an NHL-caliber bottom 6 forward (Girgs)
- 2 1sts
- 3 NHL starters who can plug in immediately
- 1 former 1st round pick with top 6 potential
That's a pretty damn fine return for one player who doesn't really want to re-sign with your team. - feetontheair22
I'd give up literally any combination of stuff, except Eichel, Dahlin and Mittelstadt.
Reinhart, 2 1sts and McCabe/Borgen. But I'd need him to re-sign, and that seems incredibly unlikely

not necessarily a winning team but a top 3 player in the league should not be there - robz228
Whether is he traded or just becomes UFA at end of season he wont be there (for much longer).
That is always the thing with NHL contracts, you sign them you are stuck for better or worse. He got the worse, but good news is there is only 1 year left and he controls his future. He could say he is not willing to sign any extension and just let Ottawa lose out on everything (either lose to UFA or small trade return due to not willing to resign).
It is his turn to kick them if he wants to do so.

Shea Weber, 5-6 month recovery. The Habs can choke on that contract. |

The guy said COULD get involved. So it COULD be about half the league. Until something moves along further, nothing is known. |

Yeah he will cost Casey at least
He’s one of the top 5 wingers in the nhl - gerbe75pts
And wingers aren’t worth what a center is.. as soon as Casey name is brought up the phone hangs up.

Bergevin is lucky he speaks french. Who else could keep their job after doing what he's done?
Well, Chiarelli I guess. But who else? |

I think every time I look at his contract I think something must be wrong. WHAT WAS NASHVILLE THINKING!
As a side note, if he does have to retire early or anything Nashville gets hit with cap issues being the team that offered that crazy deal to him. So not really Montreals issue there, but they did lose Subban for this dude. So they already lost, big! |

If Karlsson goes there the guy I would try to poach from TBL would be Stralman to play with Dahlin.
Dahlin-Stralman
Scandella-Risto
McCabe-Bogosian
Beaulieu and Nelson as extras.
Guhle and Pilut can dominate the AHL for half the season until they push McCabe out of a spot and then beualieu can be sent through waivers or traded for a bag of pucks. |

Philadelphia signed Weber to that contract. Nashville had to match because they had just lost Suter

So McCabe, Nylander, Girgs, Baptiste, and the earlier 2 of our 3 2019 1st rounders (earliest is lottery protected; becomes a non-lottery protected 2020 BUF 1st rounder)
Kinda steep....but Panarin on Eichel's wing is probably worth it. - feetontheair22
Is it steep if planarian becomes Brett Hull potting oodles of goals?
I get that we should trade away the future becusae of gmtm’s follies, but I think we can all agree that planarian is the real deal.
Trading assets for a 2nd tier like skinner and hoping that Eichel can elevate him is one thing. Planarian has proven he has the goods.

I was chatting with a friend about Chiarelli, can anyone name 1 thing good that he has ever done (drafted player x or won a specific trade)? I guess he won the cup with Boston, but not sure if any of his moves directly helped that. |

Oh interesting. So I wonder how that goes down then? Cause I guess they technically signed him to that deal, hmmm. Interesting. Penalized both! lol |

He's traded Seguin, Hall and Eberle. Alll with disastrous results. Not to mention signing Lucic and giving up a package including a 1st for Griffin Reinhart. Yikes |

No, it's Nashville's problem. Someone posted what happens if he retires in exactly 3 years. Nashville has like a $26 MILLION dollar cap recapture penalty
Edit:
Should Weber retire at any point prior to the conclusion of his contract in 2025-26, the Predators would be subsequently be imposed a cap recapture penalty equivalent to that amount divided by the number of years remaining on the contract. If Weber were to retire with just 1 season left on his deal, they would have to take the entire $24+MM penalty in 2025-26. If he were to retire with, say, four years remaining though, that total would be divided by 4, resulting in a cap recapture penalty of $6,142,857 in each of those years up until the conclusion of 2025-26. |

Waits til mid-summer to have a major knee surgery. He could have been 3 months into recovery by now. Looks like Montreal is all-in on the Hughes sweepstakes. |

I'd take Callahan and Boris Katchouk for someone like Bailey/Baptiste and a late pick (maybe Toronto's 6th) and send a salary to Ottawa if they need to hit the floor. |

You know that first for Griffin was Barzal, right? And Griffen went in Expansion Draft to Vegas. Smooth. |
