Yes, he's an effective bottom pairing Dman. An effective bottom pairing Dman with passing skills is going to thrive by the numbers of a per-60 analysis of zone exits. I stated he did some impressive things- particularly for a 19 year old. However, zone exits aren't the only part of being a Dman. He has a neutral impact of shot and chance percentages as a soft minutes guy, his 5-on-5 points/60 was 0.47 (below that of Nurse, Russell, Benning, Klefbom, Larsson and Auvitu) and his individual shot and scoring chance totals were rather low. Even with his strong zone exit numbers, he was an ineffective offensive producer despite rather favourable minutes. He's a good transition Dman but isn't yet effective in-zone.

And sure, he's not likely to remain a #4 Dman on the Avs but I'd be confident betting that he'd start as a #4. Something along the lines of Zadorov-Johnson, Cole-Barrie, Girard-Barberio(?).
