They won't.

Yzerman knows how to win Cups. He is trying to rebuild a Tampa version of his Wings dynasty. Part of that dynasty was the best Swedish D-man to ever play (Lidstrom), and the Russian line. Kucherov is the anchor of the Russian presence in Tampa and he is arguably more potent than Stamkos. Yzerman letting Kucherov go to get Karlsson would be a lateral move at best, or addition by substraction - which is something Yzerman is not known for historically. I seriously doubt Kucherov goes anywhere - except to the bank in Tampa when the ink on his new contract here dries.

Kucherov's name keeps popping up because every team wants him and every team hopes the Bolts cannot keep him due to salary concerns, so it's natural for opposing GM's to inquire about him. That doesn't mean it's happening or even being considered seriously.

Because Kucherov is not available, despite what the speculators keep saying.

It would be insane to let go of Kucherov. Also, he is due for a HUGE pay raise next year. Another good year and he could blow past 10+ a year for 8 years. No way Melnyk wants a guy like that on his team.

IMHO I think the biggest snag in the Karlsson trade is Bobby Ryan! Ottawa seems persistent in removing him but I think when it comes down to it, teams are not comfortable with his cap hit and productivity. The longer this drags on the more time GM's have to anaylize it, the more they get uncomfortable about it!
