I also don’t think Jack ran O’Reilly out of town.
O’Reilly did it himself, and pretty clearly, intentionally - sbroads24
Holy crap
Are u really just gonna keep bringing up O’Reilly every freaking chance u get?
Wow
By the way,
Did u hear the TSN guy on WGR Friday talking about how good defensively O’Reilly was & how he led the league in broken up passes for forwards?
That’s probably just another stat u ignore bc it doesn’t fit your bias though |

If bailey or baptiste start in Rochester, do they have to clear waivers?
Or is if they start in buffalo and get sent down? - Boss34
They have to clear waivers either way now |

I was neither pro nor con of ROR.
Through what I’ve heard, I’m fine he’s gone and they did get max value for him without paying his bonus. (Many will disagree but it is true unfortunately).
Berglund and Sobotka will surprise people on how good they are in their own end.
Berglund played correctly will get you 20ish ( he was thrust into a more defensive role due to depth in St Louis. Think Jere Lehtinen very lite).

Amazing that such a great defensive player was -22, or something close, on the year. But stats don't matter. O'Reilly has good traits, mainly draw % but his 5x5 scoring was atrocious |

Well, it's nice to see we have someone who has started the " this is the reason to hate Jack" blog. I can't remember the person who quoted, "Statistics are for losers. What this tells me is that we don't really watch the games we just look at the stats after the game to support our argument. Because, the things that happen during the course of a game reflect the numbers at the end, and there - macman9[b]are times when the things that happen cannot be controlled by the player with the questionable stats.
Meh.
Occassional uncontrollable issues, sure.
Can't always be a victim game in and game out.
Jack is awesome to watch play, however his game does have deficiencies no doubt.
I criticized his play early last season...but I did see it improve, especially his effort o the D side...still average at best for an elite player, but it did improve nd he deserves credit for it.
I am looking forward to watching it continue to improve this season.
That said, at $10m per season, it is time to step up and earn it, if not it should be open season on him...lead by example, hold the core accountable...be The Captain.
To whom much is given, much is expected. |

Not the same class. Will never be in the same class.
Last year: Eichel in 67 games gave the puck away 61 times. On the other side of the equation, he took the puck away from opponents a whopping 38 times (two less than Tom Wilson's 40 takeaways). All in all, #9 was a -23 in the turnover department.
McDavid had 111 takeaways and 67 giveaways - in 82 games. That's a solid +44 in takeaways/giveaways.
On a crappy team, McDavid was a +20. On a slightly crappier team, Eichel was a -25.
Eichel's Corsi was 49.7, which was 2% above his previous best. McDavid's was 53.3, right around where his career average is (53.4).
Eichel is lucky to have signed his massive deal at $10 mill per season. He's a turnover machine, not a good trait for a team leader. To date, his numbers are more in line with players in the $5 - $7 million range.
In 5-7 years we could end up viewing #9 as the Carmelo Anthony of hockey: Consistently hogs the puck and kills the flow for the rest of the offense, consistently has more giveaways than takeaways, consistently gives 75% effort on Defense / and getting back into the play (and never gets publicly called out for it by his Coach), consistently ignorant of how his teammates and knowledgeable insiders view him, and doesn't elevate the play of any of his teammates.
I hope Captain Jack figures it out sooner than later. No reason he can't play the same way Ovechkin played in the playoffs. - Jack Straw You ruin morning coffee....

Does Artemi Panarin want to spend the next 8 years in Columbus? A Q&A with agent Daniel Milstein
https://theathletic.com/4...th-agent-daniel-milstein/
Panarin has one season left before he can become an unrestricted free agent and while he's enjoyed his time with the Blue Jackets, the 26-year-old isn't sure that he wants to commit to spending the bulk of his remaining career with Columbus. "(Panarin’s) biggest thing is … he loves the team, he loves the coach. It’s not the team or the way they treat him. It’s about, does he want to spend the next eight years in Columbus? That’s the only thing at stake right now. If it was a two-year deal we probably would have done it. But it isn’t a two-year deal. It’s gonna have to be an extended, seven- or eight-year deal put in place," Panarin's agent, Daniel Milstein, said."
sorry guys if he doesn't want to live in Columbus what makes you think he wants to live in Buffalo I think he has his eyes set on a bigger Market |
