They are doing the smart thing tho, it’s just hard to accept it because they were competitive for so long. I’d like to see what the 2 tier of prospects can do like Ronning, Meskanen (sp?) etc instead of signing some older vet. Unless it’s a one yr deal and they can flip him at the TDL. - Slimtj100
I just think we need someone to protect the kids a bit. Maroon isn’t some plug, he can still play. |

Didn't Maroon sign somewhere?
Close to signing with the Blues. Wonder if Gorton approached him? |

Belesky will probably end up being the 4th line protector |

Tough dude. Wouldn't mind him sticking around. |

Close to signing with St Louis 1 year deal. Think he would’ve been nice on a line with Chytil on a 1 or 2 year deal. Honestly if he wanted 4 million a year who cares, the cap isn’t an issue this year or next. |

Is keep him for the 4th line, add Maroon. Between Belesky Smith Maroon Namestnikov and Kreider we’d have some guys that could throw the mitts if needed. |

I don’t think he blocks anyone, would’ve been a nice add |

He'll be 31 with a career high of 43 points, pass. |

I could care less what his points are for this year when we’re expecting to continue the rebuild. What I care about is having a guy on the team that can play on a 2nd or 3rd line with Chytil/Andersson/Kravtsov etc and step in when necessary. |

Jimbo & Oldschool have talked about this how the Ranger fans always seem to need to have a Defensive whipping boy. Whether it be Beck, Patrick, Joe Cirella, Bruce Driver, Poti, Rozy, the list goes on. - B2B76
I can't agree more with you and them as to that matter.
From my personal experience, I think that first, Patrick, (with nonstop unfair fan chants when on the ice for most shifts), followed by Poti (despite his 103 points in 231 games), and Rozsival, (despite his 70 points in only 2 seasons here), had absorbed the most unfair criticism in that order. You could also add another d'man, in Willie Huber being their normal whipping boy on defense for mainly not taking advantage of his body size enough.
A crazed and very unfair in relation, blue seats seasons ticket holder in an adjacent section to mine, (& also in the same section as the original "Potvin Whistler", who would initiate Potvin's infamous chant), use to yell out loud a chant at Barry Beck in 2 line poem formats. The first varying line always ended with his name in "Barry Beck", with his following & unfair at times, second rhyming line always ending as, "When the heck will you throw a check?".

I think that's the plan, I think they believe Meskanen and Lindqvist could play right away
but I got burned on Kovacs and Stromwall so I'll just wait and see |

throwing money around on scrubs like Maroon just because we have cap room makes zero sense.
Rangers should still spend wisely, other than take on some cap hit to gain assets.

He literally is the opposite of what you say the Rangers need other than having da gritz. It's amazing to watch you flip flop on every stance you ever have. |

so thats the real reason they didnt go the Chytil route with Kravtsov... KHL was potentially going to file a grievance that could have kept him off any ice for months - mrn22
Classic KHL. Gotta get Rykov, Shesterkin and Kravtsov outta there. |
