Typical. 1 guy on a 1 or 2 year deal, 1 guy on an 8 year 11+ million deal. Totally comparable.

Erik Karlsson is a elite defenseman on team that required scoring to run through him. He's a .82 ppg player. He's earned that big deal, where ever he goes next of course.
