As @NYP_Brooksie reported already, NHL sources telling me today #Stars indeed back in pole position for #ErikKarlsson. Lots of chatter though another team was making a major push but can't nail down that team right now.

Now we got action again.

This is just the next "loophole" that GM's of those teams are going to use to gain a competitive advantage. Not gonna get on them for doing nothing wrong, but I think it's going to turn into an issue that the NHLPA has a major issue with. No clue what the fix would be, but Stamkos' deal was the beginning of a slippery slope.

Were they not slotting in Kucherov for that type of contract while they were in the Karlsson talks? Seems to me that him getting about that much would have been taking as a given, so not sure how it really changes things. They need to dump all kinds of salary irrespective.
