I agree, the speed he brought was just insane. I really wish his knees held up, such an incredible goal scorer.

Yeah, if he had a step on you, you couldn't catch him. Here's some clips from his first game.

My favorite clip of him was in his second stint (wearing #96), he's in on a breakaway and goes the stick-to-skate-to-stick pass and scores. You see it a few times a year now, but when he did it, I'd never seen it before.

Sadly, there's only one video I found on YouTube and the quality is terrible.

Bure cold clocking Shane Churla in the playoffs (94) was nuts, he didn't take sh!t, Churla had been running him all game & when Pavel got his moment he paid him back IN FULL!

Whats amazing to me is how fast he could play the game with the puck. In regular speed he did that move so quick, it was difficult to tell how he actually scored.

He absolutely laid him out a la Alfredsson on Tucker. Bure wasn't big, but yeah he put a major hurt on Churla.

Great title, and a bit ironic that Derian Hatcher is in the video and it's not about him (I think Roenick still has nightmares). Nowadays, that's an 800 game suspension.

Wait, it was a good player in the playoffs? Fine him $500 and call it a day.

Churla would have probably never played again if this was today. He got destroyed as a Ranger by Stu Grimson in a fight, totally (frank)ed up his eye and broke his orbital bone but next game Churla played w a cage and still got into it.

Why I laugh when people talk about players not respecting other players now. It was so much more brutal back in the day.

Also saw somebody mention Theo Fleury, he was my favorite as kid. He was crazy, didn't realize why until, you know he wrote a book about it.

We all knew about it when he took a voluntary leave of absence in 2001 for substance abuse. It leaked out he was in rehab and then the classy Islander fans chanted crackhead Theo the next season.

I mentioned it recently it was hilarious in his book how he went on about how he never smoked crack like that was a badge of honor, meanwhile he snorted half of Columbia away.

I think players respected each other more back when the majority of players didn't wear helemts. But once you see player's head "protected" that seems to change things.
