For my own wild curiosity. Does anyone really need straws?

They give them to me in my rum/cokes but I just take them out.

how else are you going to snort your coke since nobody carries cash anymore and use their debit cards to pay

Dude, Giroux just had a career year switching to LW after he was steadily trending downwards at Center. Coots just had a career year centering G. I don't get why you're not letting go of this. They aren't going to move G to center just to improve the 3C situation.

Giroux still managed to take plenty of faceoffs last year even playing wing. And re: JVR, you don't think they sign players to long terms to play on the 2nd line? Then what the hell are Jake and like 100 other guys in the league doing on 2nd lines? And aren't you in favor of giving Simmonds(who is basically a 3rd liner on our depth chart) like a 4 or 5 year deal? I'm legit confused.

Oh my god, yes! You nailed it! I forgot about the hip injury which is absolutely key! Bad hip Giroux playing center will obviously look bad next to completely healthy Giroux at wing.

I would be confused too if you absolutely believe Simmonds is a third liner.

Voracek was split from Giroux for balance, not because he’s a second line player.

Simmonds was a 3rd liner last year after TK got promoted to 1RW. JVR was also a third liner Last year and still potted 37 goals.

Yes! Which doesn’t make them third line players. It’s just where they played!

i've dabbled in the weird stuff but at this point i keep it pretty simple aside from the occasional 5-MEO-DMT rabbit hole. i'm trying to smoke less weed and be more social lol.

I really like being high in social settings.

Used to get high with my wife every other night. Then she got pregnant, so we stopped. I haven't got high in a while.

I'm fairly certain there are one or two (maybe THREE!) posters on here who would insist that they have never ever made a single mistake in their lives.

I'm one of those who have never made a mistake. Now let me take my plastic spoons back to my hybrid so I can go home.

I have nothing against G playing wing again for another season or the rest of his career but we’re clearly weak at center. The question is, can Coots bring the same production against this season. If he can, the second question becomes whether or not you guys want a one line team or a balanced team up front. These are legitimate concerns.

Why in the world would Giroux go back to center?

Silly season.

Textbook cut off your nose to spite your face. Guy nearly takes the league scoring title as a LW, helps Coots explode offensively and people want to break them up and move G back to center because we don't have Val Filppula anymore. I can't even.

Edit: I will say I think people confuse how good he looks healthy with how good he looks at wing. He was hurt for a year and a half and then looked like the old giroux once he was healthy again. Essentially means one of the best centers in team history suddenly can’t play center? Try again.

- YuenglingJagr

I haven't read anyone state that Giroux is no longer capable of playing center. I think the argument is that playing wing is less wear and tear on his body. Did you ever consider that playing the wing versus center could help him stay healthy and stay a top player longer?

He is already pretty good without the puck in terms of going to the right spots. But his line had the puck pretty much constantly -- which was the biggest reason he posted a CHL-leading (not just OHL) plus-70 last season. In the playoffs, he got outmuscled a bit by the bigger forwards he went up against.
- bmeltzer

So what you are saying he has a long ways to go to even make the nhl let alone line up against B. Schenn. Just think how much better this team would be with Schenn added to the mix. I hope Morgan can be better than Schenn but in reality he may never even make it to the show.

I am in a situation where I am picking a Flyer for sure and am kind of liking Ratcliffe over Frost. Who do you think has a better chance of being a scoring forward? I only have the one pick and so can only take one. Any thoughts.

Most definitely, playing wing will prolong his career. Last year it was like he was reborn, he had more jump or appeared quicker than any of the last three years. With Couturier and Patrick down the middle the top two C spots are solidified. IMO

You realize the trade was more than just Frost for Schenn though, right?

The second first round pick was to take that horrible Lehtera contract in the deal. I fail to see the Blues giving two first rounders just for Schenn, Lehtera certainly factored in somehow. Either way the Blues now have their first line center and we still have to wait and see what we get for him. There is no guarantee that either have any impact in the nhl but we can always hope.

Schenn added to the mix does not make the Flyers a Cup team. However the potential of adding top propspects like Frost might. Frost is 19. Schenn didn't play full time in the NHL until he was 20 and he didn't break out until 2 years later at 22 so Frost has some tme.

I thought you were no longer a Flyers fan and are now a Boston fan and would no longer post in the Flyers thread?

Why has the anti vaxxer been allowed to spew their drivel uncontested? This isn’t a topic where there are fundamental differences in opinion, there is either right or wrong. Vaccines save lives.
