Hall clicked with leon. And that’s exactly where we need him.

I still see the “winger for connor” thing everywhere. S’weird. Besides having nuge there already, it’s a star for leon to lean on on the 2nd line that makes us Infinitely tougher to match

I firmly believe Hall and McDavid would have clashed. Hall was supposed to be "the guy" and was "the guy" everywhere he played. I don't think his ego would have allowed him to get along with Mcdavid.

I'd want him too, but why the (frank) would Edmonton want to move a 22-year-old (23 in October) centre for a 26-year-old (27 in October) winger? That's just dumb.
- Oilers4Life14

My point is that I don't think you want over 30 million tied up in 3 forwards. Your defense is already awful, and that would make sure you couldn't fix it. Not sure what Columbus would want for Panarin-I know it wouldn't include Draisatl-that would be a separate deal.

Hall even came out and admitted a couple things.

1. He admitted the trade was a wake up call

2. He admitted that he likes NJ a lot because there isn't a lot of media/fan pressure.

Not saying he would've been a horrible player here as I do think he could've been a 60-75 point guy here. But I don't think he would've ever gotten the Hart and 90+ points.

Point number one is exactly why he had the season he just did. Guys like Iggy don't realize that Hall wasn't that player with the Oilers.

The right call was keeping McDavid and Drai. The wrong call was moving Eberle for Strome, it should have been for a guy like Skinner (ie. real hockey trade).

He also admitted he was no longer listening to the coaches in Edmonton, which pissed me off more than a little.

I like Yammamoto's chances this year. Also I think Rieder will get a shot with McDavid at some point. Coach isn't great at keeping players that have Chemistry together. So no guarantee.

Definitely sure that Rieder isn't the best FA signing of the year but he might be the Oilers best which says extremely little. Again I think Chiarelli has proven he can't get the job done and should be fired before its too late and this offseason is completely over.

This could be where the whole he was a cancer in the dressing room talk came from.

But, but...he wants to win...
When have economics and contracts ever taken precedent over winning and the mighty Leafs organization?

He'll take 2.5 on a 10 year term... because Leafs.

Kucherov @ 9.5m for the next 8.... Keep in mind this guy was one of the few to keep up with McDavid in points and possession metrics the last few years.

Another discount signing by Yzerman.... I wonder who thought that was going to be the case.......

I thought we agreed upon Russell for Kronwall?
- EdmHockeyMan

It fell through since we couldn’t get Ottawa to take Russell for Karlsson

Florida state taxes are a wonderful thing. The NHL might need to find a way to balance that out.

An adjustment would only take the NHL to look at the highest tax rate in the league and apply the percentage difference between what the contract pays the player and what that would cost to pay said contract in the highest tax area to the cap hit- not the salary.

Hypothetically, let's say this contract ends up paying Kuch approximately 8mil/year after federal taxes. Let's say that contract would cost the team in the highest tax area 12mil/year to facilitate. In that case, the League would apply a cap inflator based off each state/provinces relative tax rate to even the playing field. So the contract negotiated would still have the same terms to the player but would carry a higher cap hit to the team.

It's not a perfect idea but I think it could be workshopped to improve it.

that wont ever happen, its a hard cap league for a reason.

And just bc one state has tax benefits today, there is no guaranteed they will have the same tax benefits years from now. However Florida has been like this since its been a state. Wasnt helping the Pathers and Lightning for the longest time, its just a topic now since the Lightning are really good are are able to keep their stars. Just the rewards of operating and management a success hockey club in a non hockey market where your revenue streams might be significant less compared to other big market clubs

But those states usually tax hard on Property and Sale taxes, so sure you dont pay income tax but you will get dinged hard on living there.
