(frank)ing Leaf fans think Matthews will take a haircut to play for the Leafs.
- Little Ricky

Alot of Edmonton fans were predicting 9.7 per for McDavid. Oilers fans are every bit as bad as Leafs fans. The difference being we know how annoying we are.

I think predicting is the incorrect word. Hoping/wishing would be far more appropriate.

that wont ever happen, its a hard cap league for a reason.

And just bc one state has tax benefits today, there is no guaranteed they will have the same tax benefits years from now. However Florida has been like this since its been a state. Wasnt helping the Pathers and Lightning for the longest time, its just a topic now since the Lightning are really good are are able to keep their stars. Just the rewards of operating and management a success hockey club in a non hockey market where your revenue streams might be significant less compared to other big market clubs

But those states usually tax hard on Property and Sale taxes, so sure you dont pay income tax but you will get dinged hard on living there.

It wasn't helping them before because there wasn't a cap before 2005 and since then, Tampa has only been a great team recently. I'm suggesting a set number; it could adjust and be evaluated every offseason to adjust to changes in individual state incomes. Further, my point has nothing to do with changing the contract for the player, just for the team. The team's are the ones that stand to benefit a lot from this.

I see your point on property tax, but does that really make up for the difference in how much Winnipeg would have to pay Kucherov to get him making the same as he is in Tampa? It's already bad enough being a snowy wasteland or Buffalo competing with lush, tropical locales like Florida and California- especially when Canadian teams are the ones that keep some of those tropical locales afloat financially.

Thats what I mean, 2005, its been over a decade and now its just a topic since Stamkos etc since the Lightning have been good. NHL fans crave big name trades and signings so when a team keep t heir own stars instant reaction come on we want Chaos!

I dont see this an issue, the vast majority of players want to win, and if you area good team that gives additional benefits to live and play there, thats a bonus to the player.

The majority of good players wont stay in places just for the tax breaks and the sandy as their sole reason. Its more of a credit to how well the Lightning are built top to bottom. Good NHL team, strong AHL team, incredible prospect pipeline.

Its not like the Pantherse area having the same level of success when it comes to signing their own guys, its been full market value for all their guys come off ELCs and bridges.

True but as an old guy it amazes me how many young Oilers fans hate the Leafs. It must have been passed down from your fathers because the Leafs have been a bad hockey team for your whole life.
And as far as having annoying fans the Oilers are right there. I’ve rarely had a debate with an Oilers fan without having to hear about the eighties. Thirty years isn’t as bad as fifty but it’s still pretty effin bad.

Good. You still have the ability to change your own incontinence products, and make it to the toilet in time at least 65% of the time.

Correct in my case. My father loathes the Rangers, Leafs and Habs, and I’ve inherited these hatreds. God forbid that I ever procreate, but if I do I can guarantee you my offspring will despise the Ducks as well.

As for annoying fans, I’d have to say the same about the Leafs. I’m not sure if it’s because there are so (frank)ing many of you, or because your clan is prolific posters. Regardless I avoid your threads like the plauge.

I feel the same way about the Habs and Sens. I lived in Edmonton a long time and I always got a kick out of the hatred of anything that pertains to Ontario.

When McDavid signed that contract fans on this site were very disappointed at the dollar amount. But it seems like I’m the only one who remembers that.

They can talk ad nauseum about Matthews without mentioning McDavid but when its something about McDavid they bring up some random useless tidbit about Mathews.
