Hall even came out and admitted a couple things.
1. He admitted the trade was a wake up call
2. He admitted that he likes NJ a lot because there isn't a lot of media/fan pressure.
Not saying he would've been a horrible player here as I do think he could've been a 60-75 point guy here. But I don't think he would've ever gotten the Hart and 90+ points. - Lahey
Why does he all of a sudden go downhill during his prime? 60 pts?
He had over a ppg twice here. And over 80 once. Before his true prime. And with an inferior Center to leon today.
In fact, his metrics were comparable here in multiple seasons to his beast year last season in jersey.
Everything else is background noise and excuses. hall on this team gives us potentially the most lethal offence in the game. At least among the games top few.
With him on the second line alongside leon, We’d be exactly what they’re saying about the leafs right now. Some issues on defence, but lethal up front and a contender for years to come.
He’d be good for 70+ on a yearly basis (which is elite in today’s game) and of course potentially have some career years where he reached the gaudy totals |

Because that's where he was headed when he was here. Heck he only had 53 in NJ but people seem to forget about that as well. |

Contrary to what Hall says he didn't want to be in Edmonton. He was only upset that he got traded from his buddies (Sploogent Hoppins & Eberle). |

Exactly... I can see Hall and Eberle signing in the same place next summer. |

Lol I just said in Todd's latest blog that they should go after Eberle.
Also Hall has one more year than Ebs. |

Hall made it quite clear that he was quite happy in NJ to be in a place that isn't hockey 365 days a year.
Jersey is a place where if he has one bad game he doesn't hear about it for a week on the radio and from the media. |

Him deciding it was a good place to be after some time doesn’t mean that he hated it in edmonton.
He flat out said he was pissed he was traded.
I’ve heard the “Hes different player now” from numerous apologists before. Untrue.
His numbers relative to his teammates weren’t even his best in his career last year.
You can draw all the conclusions and cause and effect u like, but it’s nothing more than conjecture to make excuses for a move that set us back at least a few years and one of the worst in oilers history.
We traded away the reigning hart winner for a stay at home 2nd pairing defender. |

But if he was so happy to be traded why’d he struggle? Weird.
He also only played 70 games that year

Lots of guys struggle their first year in a new place.
As for the 70 games, that's a common factor with Hall. He is more likely not to play a full year than he is a full year. Hence why I put 60-75 as expectations for him in Edmonton. |

Probably. But that doesn’t mean more than one thing couldn’t be true at the same time |

So a ppg right around his career avg?
And of course the ability to go slightly above and below that from time to time?
Sounds about right |

There is a little truth in all of it I think. Hall is an elite and somewhat arrogant athlete. I’m sure he felt the trade was a betrayal of sorts, and I’m equally sure it was a blow to his ego.
Regardless he is enjoying his hero status with the Devils, which is something he would have had to share as an Oiler. Would that have bothered him? Maybe. Only Hall could say for sure. |

I'm just not convinced. Every time we saw Hall, he always had such a long face. |
