Last year when Dorsett was playing Sutter /Dorsett were Canucks best and most productive line.
Canucks are a very talentless (not a real word) team . This summer they fixed the bottom 6 now they need to fix the top 6 - VANTEL

Clearly he is a good player, he made it to the NHL. But he isnt a defensive juggernaut as some would argue, he seems better suited to the wing than centre, he only puts up points when paired with players who have more offensive talent, or when the sheer volume of his minutes goes up. He does seem like a really nice guy, I bet he is a great temmate, is a positive role model etc. but he hasn't exactly helped the team win games the past few seasons. - 1970vintage
He's one of the top 90 cents in the world dude, don't be such a hater. |

http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/what-should-we-expect-from-nikolay-goldobin-next-season-1.23362771
Interesting comparison, though Namestnikov was playing on a line with Stamkos when his production got a bump. Watching how he does on the Rangers this year might provide insight into what we can expect from Goldy? - NorthNuck
Maybe Goldobin would be a good fit for TB as part of a larger cap-relief deal for them? If he can provide similar production to Namestnikov for $900K instead of $4MM....

I'm not asking where he will play, I'm asking where he fits for you.
Anyway, I think we can agree that in general he was deployed as a defensive specialist, and what I'm saying is there is nothing special about his game, defensive or otherwise. - 1970vintage
I think Sutter is one of the better #3 centers in the league . I am so glad the twins retired because now we can start building the Canucks as a team and not have everything done to fit the twins game.

For a very short period of time those two guys had some success. Now that the bottom 6 is "fixed", where does Sutter fit into the lineup? Is he in the top or bottom? - 1970vintage
Try him with say Goldobin and Pettersson. |

I think Fabian Brunnstrom was the guy you were thinking of yesterday. Although he's a F. But he did get a hatty in his 1st game. - storm88
I always think of Fabian Brunnstrom as the final straw that got Nonis fired.
Canucks missed the playoffs and, at his year-end meeting with ownership, Donuts revealed his master plan to get the team back on track was to sign Brunnstrom. He was a highly sought after free-agent at the time and the Canucks were reported to be the team he was going to sign with.
That was all Dave had up his sleeve and the Aquilinis weren't impressed. So they fired him and hired Gillis. |

FireBenning - VANTEL
Ok, that is a fair point. I disagree. I think if Sutter was actually one of the better #3 C in the league that at least one member of the voting media would have given him a token 5th place Selke vote. Rielly Smith got a couple, Dadonov got one, with similar point totals Radek Faksa is genuinly considered as an elite defensive forward playing 2/3 C.
I do agree about the twins retiring, and now the rebuild can actually start. The management did so much to keep this team on life support and clearly non of it worked. I believe Sutter is one of those things they did.
This wont be popular, and I'm sure you will disagree, but I would rather the twins came back for one more year at $10m each than paying $24m over 4 seasons to Beagle/Rousel

Dude, there is no hate in anything I've said. I paid plenty of compliments to him as a human, and suggested he is clearly a good player based on his continued place in the league. But, as for being one of the top 90 C in the world, that is debateable. |

You are right about bringing back the twins . Very unpopular . Just delaying .
Reilly Smith played for a top 10 team with Fluery as the main goalie. Canucks were a bottom 10 team and had Markstrom who screams at his own team to smarten up

So, hes not even a top 3 center in your eyes? That's some hate.
Edit, you do know that the are only 124 top 4 centers in the nhl? 93 top three centers? |

Not really sure why that matters. Florida didn't make the playoffs. Is Colton Sissons one of the five best defensive forwards in the league?
Ok, here is a different perspective. I would be fine with Beagle/Rousel if Gagner/Eriksson were not on the team. In two years however, we will probably be saying the same thing about the two newest FA. |

Are you asking if I think he is one of the three best C's on this team? I guess, at this very moment. If you are asking if every player was available to draft a team then no, he would not be in my top 90. |

Not top 90 forwards, top 90 centers.
You have 90 centers listed about him? That's some serious hate, list them. |

Somebody on the radio was talking about luxury tax the other day. I think in reference to OKC NBA team? Apparently they will pay $150 in tax beyond their actual payroll. Which surprised me, because I thought the NBA had a hard cap. |
