Catching up on 10+ pages...

Saying he is not a good 3C is a joke.
The team he plays for is irrelevant.
Ppl have blinders on saying he is not a 3C & good at that position. Its pure rambling nonsense about hating a player.

It's that Mofo goat herder causing all the commotion . I think the desert heat makes him hallucinate .

I am only joking BTW

This is the scenario. We have a great 2C and 3C, now arguably 4c in Beagle (i think so) but we do not have the most important position filled yet and so it will be hard for us to score. It doesn't help that our goaltending is one of the worst duo's in Hockey and we have 2 NHL dmen. #top5pick2019

I would probably put Bo 1C, AG 2C, Sutter 3 and Beagle 4. Maybe at some point in the year you slide EP in the middle if AG struggles. That said, I wouldn't be shocked if both were in Utica to start the year considering they are waiver exempt and Gagner is our 2C. I just hope he plays well enough to get traded, which goes for pretty much everyone over 25 on this team.

Thats a decent perspective 👍
Those who go on about this & that is one thing but when our talent base (prospects) is developing from nothing some ppl make poor judgements on the present situation. There is a reason we are a bottom feeder for a few years & it takes time to rebuild.

it can be one, or two, but tell me pres, why would a player settle with an arbitrator for 2 years, when you can only go to arbitration once as a player, and you would almost ensure you would get a better contract the following year...

Simple: they offer you more money to take two.

Leafs give Matthews a bridge deal rather than sign long term because they can't agreed on money(leafs prob want 10m or less and Mattews wants McDavid money). Matthews then goes to arbitration and due to rising cap he gets somewhere between 13-14m as a comparable between JT and McDavid(going by cap % at time of signing). I doubt a bridge ends up happening, i think 11.5x8 is what gets settled on, but these things do happen. Look at Subban.
- Retinalz

If Matthews signs a bridge he is as good as gone. Why a talent of his calibre would ever do so makes no sense. Its an insult to take a home team discount.

Isn't arbitration for one or two year deals only?
- VANTEL

Didn't Subban get a multi year deal from arbitration? the Canadiens didnt give him that 9m arbitrators did

I would think he gets 8-9m. Nylander prob 6m. They will need to trade one of Marner or Nylander

6m is a squeeze IMO. I guess it comes down to if Willy keeps improving. Idk if the 2nd best winger on the Leafs of his calibre should leave money on the table.

Who? The arbitrator? Name the last player who settled on a two year arbitration case? Doesnt even have to be a dominant player, despite us talking about matthews here

I don't know. I know it has happened. Was Galchenyuk's two from an arbitrator? Their job is to gauge what's most fair to both player and team. Seems lik you're siding with the player in a way the arbiter is legally obliged not to.

In terms of length of term decided in arbitration...

Also determined when the briefs are exchanged: the side against whom arbitration was filed gets to elect a term of either one or two years for the potential award. In "player-elected salary arbitration," the team will decide on a one or two-year term for the award. In "club-elected salary arbitration," the player will decide.

Edit: Now, STFU.

Im not siding with any side. The point of an arbitrator is to be a non biased 3rd party who constructs a contract based off of a variety of outside and inside factors. Im simply saying, as people are saying matthews could go bridge plus arbitration (multi year), its all false. Im not saying it could happen, but i dont remember the last player of his calibre not only skipping the bridge all together, but filing for arbitration, and getting north of 10 mill lol

Also - galchenyuk filed for arbitration and settled on 3 years before it went

Saw Brian Campbell on the radio this morning giving insane praise to the kid. Saying he enters the league already being one of the best skaters and could defend against mcdavid.

Yes.
I don't know if the team & agent agree on term prior or if the arbitrator determines it as part of their decision.

With our luck the arbitrator will give him a NTC.
