Didn't Subban get a multi year deal from arbitration? the Canadiens didnt give him that 9m arbitrators did
- Retinalz

They signed him before the arbitrator gave his decision.

Im not siding with any side. The point of an arbitrator is to be a non biased 3rd party who constructs a contract based off of a variety of outside and inside factors. Im simply saying, as people are saying matthews could go bridge plus arbitration (multi year), its all false. Im not saying it could happen, but i dont remember the last player of his calibre not only skipping the bridge all together, but filing for arbitration, and getting north of 10 mill lol

Also - galchenyuk filed for arbitration and settled on 3 years before it went

- Codes1087

Cool. I really don't think he'll go either, it's not going to happen. All i meant was that is has happened before, I'm fairly certain, and based on what both the player and team want it could end up being a 2 year deal in any arbitration case. That said, most are one year.

I think matthews will be given 10 plus million a year out of ELC and they make it work with marner and nylander. I think they ship kadri/kapanen/johnsson out before they deal those 2.

I think he will be really good but the big question is when.

Gudbrandson may finally earn a paycheck and protect the little guy

How can he protect him when he's skating in a different time zone?

Great, the Leafs will be handing out Kane and Toews money without the 3 cups

Lots of Quinn Hughes signing on Twitter. Seems like he will be signing a contract very soon

That’s wonderful news. The kid is going to be mentored so well our roster is now Boeser, Hughes and 19 mentors

Me too. I'd guess it will be 11. Dubas has made it pretty clear that keeping those three were part of bringin JT in and it would be unfair to trade them based on that. Those three certainly have some of the highest value. I would think Johnsson and kadri could land you a pretty big fish to shore up the D. Carolina is likely on Dubas speed dial at this point.

Arizona offer sheeting matthews would actually help them in the long run though.

I hope he stays in TO. It usually only takes two years after long term contracts to start hearing "Holy Christ only 6 more years left"

Yes. Quinn himself was commenting on it. I would be surprised if he goes back to Mich

Even Botch just tweeted Canucks will probably have to retain salary and move Hutton

He has already had a better career than Hutton and he hasn’t played a game. He should be on the team

He's not a legit source. I do admire that he thinks he's good enough now. I just searched twitter to see if there's more to this and it appears it's mostly based on him saying he'd like to play on the Canucks this year/thinks he's good enough. I'd really like him on the team, but he may push us onto the bubble if both him and EP have calder worthy years'

I still think matthews is up there with the rest of the elite, but toronto will have some very tough decisions to make regarding cap in the new few years.
