Are you using those examples to suggest guys from the Swedish Elite League aren't very good and shouldn't be expected to make much of an impact at the NHL level?? - YeOldTimer
Being a 26 year old MVP in the SHL just isn’t that impressive. He had his chance and he was useless for us |

i don't classify beagle as a good 3rd liner in today's game. good 4th liner
3rd liners need to produce more offense |

We have already been down this road 100x in these forums. We all know everyone's specific stance on the signings. I think its probably best to not open up this can of worms again lol |

He is a center. 16 G 17 A 33 PTS He played third line on Det - VANTEL
My bad - hockeydb has him as a LW
Although it doesn't look like he played a ton of C last year - about as much as Granlund - either way I dont him how he fits in our lineup unless there's some drastic trade, like Gagner and Hutton for him?? but wtf would Det do that?
point is, I doubt anything will happen |

Beagle is NOT a 3rd line center dude - NorthNuck
DUDE
Sven is not a first line LHW
Stecher is not a top line RHD
Bo is not a number 1 C
Gagner is not a top 6 forward
MDZ is not a #4 D
Granlund is not a top 6 forward
Pouliot is not a top 4 D
Sutter is not a top 2 C
You draw the line in the sand at Beagle |

I believe he played mostly C . I don't follow the wings but I think he was full time C

you are literally right on everything above. Having said all that, where do we draw the line? "we have a bunch of scraps, so lets add some more" isn't exactly an encouraging approach to free agency. I think people are less mad about Beagle for specific term and $ (cap and canucks are at a point currently where they can make it work), but rather as consistency from management to maintain a level of mediocrity of skill on this team.

Beagle is a reliable defensive center that could shelter Gaudette as he eases into the NHL . When Gaudette is ready you can move Beagle down to number 4

Aren't most of Vancouvers's moves this offseason pretty much down that line of thinking?
Using cap space on veterans until younger players are ready to take their spot? Which will likely take at least 3-4 years? |

Eldebrink RE: Rodin with the Ducks...
He'll be on Kesler's line and will never receive a pass. - LordHumungous
True. He'll most likely play on the 3rd or 4th line though. |

Most on here think the kids are ready today. I include myself as one of them at times guilty of rushing things.
Out top AHL player last year was Boucher whom every time got called up did nothing. When one of the prospects are really ready I am sure management will move someone or sit someone down |

That's why I think EP should start in Utica. - A_SteamingLombardi
Or sit him out the first few games like they did with Boeser last year. That would be a good way to at least temper expectations for EP a bit.
If they carve out a roster spot for him and he doesn't produce, then he'll be unfairly criticized as a failure because he wasn't able to translate his SEL success to the NHL. If he isn't in the opening night roster but goes on to succeed like Brock did, then management and Green will merely be scorned for not playing him sooner.

Brad Richardson is the only one so far this year, maybe Brodziak but I think he was pursued.
Other guys who will likely sign for way less $ and term are Letestu, Stajan, Vermette and can provide the same thing. |

Canucks have 5 players very close to ready but it would be stupid to bring all five in at the same time .

He played the majority of the season on the LW with Dylan Larkin and/or Frans Nielson at C on the 2nd & 3rd line - they took over 1000 FOs to his 250.
