I think barring injury or him completely looking out of place, he starts with the nucks this year.

I don't mind him going back to Michigan but I would prefer if he was in the AHL for at least part of the season. If he shows he can dominate that league right now, keep him up.

I hope they are open to EP spending some time in Utica if he needs it too.

I don't think they are

I didn’t mind the Gagner one. Worthwhile gamble. It didn’t workout. That happens when signing UFAs obviously
- CanuckDon

Yeah, same here. All of the UFA singings last year I was OK with.

MDZ has more or less worked out. Seems like a good veteran, plays hard, isn't that good so the team will still suck, and will probably hold value at the TDL.

I don't see them getting by the Bruins next year. I would really be shocked
- VANTEL

I'd consider it a minor upset if the Bruins won, they're the clear underdogs despite having a solid team. They've mostly had success matching Bergeron against Matthews and shutting him down. Now they have to deal with Tavares + Marner on a separate line, that's a bit tougher than dealing with Bozak and JVR lol.

Tavares last few seasons against Boston:

16 Games
8 goals
5 Assists
13 Points

Sucking one more year won't hurt

Isn't that what you brought Beagle in for a shut down role?
- VANTEL

I thought you were supposed to be Benning

No, I don't think Beagle will be getting shutdown minutes like Sutter was. I think he will take some defensive faceoff responsibility and PK ice time away from Horvat and lessen Sutter's role somewhat but I would bet we see a lot of

Eriksson Sutter Granlund

I like Green for the most part but he (frank)ing loves playing his shutdown vets, he did it last year and did it a lot in Utica.

Poor Granlund

That deployment is potentially costing him a mil or 2 a year

How many playoff points? I remember Sedins had good regular season numbers against the Flames

Agreed, all the signings made sense last year and MDZ should hopefully be worth a 3rd. I’m good with this years signings other than Beagle

I meant Jack Hughes

How can they determine if he looks out of place without signing him though? He won't attend main camp without a contract. All they can do is watch his tape at Michigan and the World Championships.

- Nucker101

It sounds like to me that Benning thinks he can step in now and so does Hughes, I think Quinn just wants to make sure he doesn't get sent to Utica for the whole year.

If Sutter is playing shut down I think it will be

Granlumd /JV Sutter Roussel

If Sutter is used as 2C

DUDE

Sven is not a first line LHW
Stecher is not a top line RHD
Bo is not a number 1 C
Gagner is not a top 6 forward
MDZ is not a #4 D
Granlund is not a top 6 forward
Pouliot is not a top 4 D
Sutter is not a top 2 C

You draw the line in the sand at Beagle

Depends how you define 2C. Sutter was the 2C last year in terms of TOI and he played shutdown for almost the entire time he was out there.

Disagree. He's better than at least 4 or 5 of our other forwards

I think to start Sutter will start with EP and LE as a scoring line.

It could change but I think it will start like that .

I'm not pulling out the pom pom for Gagner by any means but with the Sedins now gone opens opportunities for others. I can see him getting 40 pts which is nothing to sneeze at.
