I am not sure it will work but it's worth a look. I can see the logic behind it. The team will suck so plenty of time to juggle lines and find the best fit. - CanuckDon

Nor should number of fights but that was part of the argument I was combating. Like I said, cherry-picked stats.
As a pure hockey player, I see Granlund as the superior player, despite the fact that the others may have intangibles that he does not. - NorthNuck
Granlund is being utilized so much like Hansen was when he was here. I am not sold on Granlund being anything more than a 3rd or 4th line winger/centre. If the Sedins can make Anson Carter/Burrows/Hansen look good on paper, I am not sure Granlund should be looked at any differently. |

I think of Granlund as a 3rd line winger who is versatile enough that he can play up or down depending on what you ask of him. Very similar to Hansen. When Hansen was here I wouldn't have described him as a 13th forward and I don't think many others would. |

Lets break this down.
Schaller was hired as muscle a fighter. I have never seen Granlund have or win one fight.
Roussel was hired beacause he is an instigator who throws teams off with big hits , crashing the goalie and chirping . Again never seen Granlund play that role but I doubt other teams would be intimidated
Beagle . Well Canucks the ones with the checkbook and roster card feel differently . They offered 12 mil to one and the other one 1 mil
Gaunce? Who gives a sh1t sure replace him.
Leipsic brings energy to the team constant pressure on the other team. Again don't remember seeing that from Granlund - VANTEL
I think you're going to be disappointed. |

He can fight, check and contribute on the score sheet. I doubt anyone is disapointed with Schaller. He isn't a heavyweight but that's not what any team needs. |

My bad. I read your original comment wrong. I thought you were saying those players were better than Granlund.
Again, my bad. |

Granlund fluked into 19 goals and wasn't very effective as a checker. He's the definition of a tweener. On a team that isn't made up of 80% bottom 6 players, he has a role but the players he's better than now (Liepsic, Goldobin, Virtanen) have more upside and the other bottom 6 guys are better role players (gritty, shutdown, faceoffs, pk). That leaves him needing to outplay Boeser or Baertschi for a top 6 spot.
If we could move Eriksson, I could see a role for him perhaps... |

Very true. Carter and even Burrows didn't produce much off the Sedin line...but Hansen did. Granlund the same produced poorly off the Sedin line. Not sure you can even compare the two. Play a very different game. |

I know he's not a goon, you described him as a muscle, a fighter and he's not.
He's a dependable 4th liner who understands he needs to jump in and punched in the face if his teammates get blown up. |

You can consider him the best player in the league if you want but 1 year @1.1 says you are wrong |

Well yeah, in an ideal world LE is not on the team. I do think Granlund will get pushed out by circumstances but i was making a case for him being better than the guys I listed. |
