That happens quite a bit around here.

I think you brought up some solid points.

Either way it was an opinion. Supported by some valid facts

Nashville he would be 3rd in defensive scoring based on points. In 73 games played on the worst team in the league.

Not the best team in the league

- Boss34

He also would have played probably 200 or so less minutes, maybe more.

He isn’t playing PP over Subban, Josi, and Ellis and isn’t getting the Defensive responsibilities Ekholm does

Statistically, is there really a team with 3 defenseman with more points then risto-s 41 points.

I respect your opinion, but any facts?

Your taking his 41 points to prove the point ? That’s like me talking Gus or Ennis when we sucked and saying those 2 are top line players

Sure risto is playing pp.

Ellis is not better then risto in my opinion.

If they put up top line points, it would be the same.

Points can be measured

Opinions are hard to measure

Ellis plays 24 min a night and was an absolute beast when they went to the cup.

He just isn’t 6’4

Man, you do have a sharp, hitting persona on here.
It was a discussion.
The stats simply don't support your case...
Big man with "I hang up and listen"
Then presented with an opposing fact based discuss you get nasty.

- IonSabres

Nasty? lol

You haven't presented poop.

You've done nothing but contradict yourself.

"His plus minus sucked last year" without acknowledging the team's also dropped by roughly the same amount.

"He started way more in the O-Zone, but he didn't block shots." "He started in the O-Zone, but had a career low takeaways." You're absolutely having it both ways. People hate on Gerbe for it when he does it, yet it's totally fine when you want to have it your way.

You have presented nothing that can't be refuted without going a single step further down the line i.e. +/- and giveaways/takeaways. You have presented only the most superficial reasons for this alleged "regression".

And that’s probably a good reason why we don’t want him
We’d have to give up a ton
Plus sign him to 10mil a year

Nah...
I’m not giving all that up and paying the dude a crap ton

Not if he cares more about where he lives than the team he’s on

- jdfitz77

I'm not saying I want him. It would be awesome to have him, but it makes no sense to get him. I've never said to trade for him.

So because he doesn't play for the teams with arguably the best defense corps he's a #5? What kind of logic is that?

He is absolutely among the top 60 defensemen in the league. He has not "regressed", neither has he, really, gotten a ton better in the past 2 years.

Ellis gets the benefit of the doubt of playing on a top nhl team.

Ellis is supremely underrated simply because of the team he plays on. He's a #1 on a bunch of teams. Top pairing on good teams.

First bolded- I never said he “was a 5” I said he was a 5 on Nashville. I’ve literally said 3 times in the last few pages he’s a 2nd pairing D man.

Second bolded - No. that’s been over with

Ellis is soo underrated he’s like a mini Dan Boyle I’m hoping we sign this beast next year maybe with Phil Housley he might want to come here

He could be on our Number one pairing with the chosen one

At some point I thought you said risto isnt even a 2nd pairing defenseman on some teams.

1 and 2. Is the first pairing
3 and 4. Is the second pairing

5 is after 4

If I could be bothered to multi-reply, I'd add Gerbe who listed a bunch of teams, really only a few, Calgary, Nashville, Carolina, and MAYBE Minnesota. Would he be that far down the depth chart, but that's not a knock on him, it's huge props to those teams for assembling such a phenomenal D corps. Risto is an easy top pair guy on the majority of NHL teams.

My quote was “on a few teams”.

You said he was a 3 on only 6-8 teams. My point was he’s also a 5 on a few.

He’s in the middle. A good, young 3-4

How many games do you go to a year?

Risto is fun too watch. He's aggressive, he clears out the net. He zones in on other teams stars.

And he puts up points

I would be shocked if he gets traded this offseason
