Dumping an LTIR contract on another team is something i was talking about the other day?? It's not circumventing the cap? I didn't think you could trade a player that 'is' injured?
And for those saying it's strategic because Yotes get a player as payment, it's still cap circumvention for the rest of the NHL that gets no benifit.
How & why should you be able to trade a player that is injured or is on ltir (Hossa isn't injured)?
The organisation 'should' be made to buyout the contract. If the NHL does continue to allow this, there should at least be a limit to how many contracts a team can do this with in a 5 year period.
If I was to guess at who the Hawks are going to do next, isn't Toews suffering from a bad back? Stay tuned............

If you front load a contract and trade the guy away later you should have to eat the dead money on your cap just like a buyout.
The Hawks benefitted something like 20 million under actual Hossa value the 7 years he played there. Stuff like that gives a huge advantage in a cap system
