Someone is going to have so much fun if/when Giroux plays even one shift at center.
- Scoob

As long as someone else is bringing it up, I’m sure I’ll get blamed for this later with all the boys with selective memory around here.

The only time Boruk should be used as a source is for articles on chauvinism and douchebaggery
- YuenglingJagr

John Boruk is an idiot. It’s somewhat sad you use his article to prove it’s a good move.

I don’t know who John Boruk is. It’s somewhat sad anyone suggesting Giroux play center while we have weak depth in the middle would upset anyone of you.

He was also great at firing the puck into Niemi's chest.

I find the vitriol directed at a poster because he wants to discuss Giroux moving back to center and possibly thinks it's a good idea, absurd.

On the other hand, most of us have acknowledged that it is possible but based on last season's success it is very probable that he will play the overwhelming majority of his time as a winger. He's a versatile player so to expect that he will exclusively play one or the other is not realistic.

His thought isn't the sand in the gears here.

Not that it’s important in any way but someone’s going to have to draw a circle around that female dog and put x’s on his eyes. He might as well be Claude Rains.

The funny thing about the talk regarding G, is Coots has taken imo a hell of a beating playing in the middle during his career also.

Just is what it is with these guys sometimes. Have to hope they stay healthy.

Didn't realize Boruk worked for the Flyers now.

Yep, its the fact he can't stand it when people disagree with him.

There is a time and place. Yeah, he can always move back. But fresh off a 100+ point season with no opportunity to show it will carry over? To me that is kind of absurd.

My thought is that the organization sees Couturier's much bigger size and hopes he can hold up better, while they were (rightly) seeing Giroux start to get beat up a little too much and felt the move to wing would not only preserve his body, but also preserve the length of his career.

It may hurt the team in the short term by thinning the Center depth, but it definitely helps in the long run by having a healthier Giroux with less wear and tear as he enters the end of his prime years. Perhaps even extending his prime years.

:edit: I would also add that I believe that was the plan all along. And them lucking in to Nolan Patrick may have allowed the team to move up the timetable.

Timonen and Coburn were a better PK D pair than anything the Flyers have now. Provy is excellent, but he needs someone to work with. Also, while Bryz was inconsistent and goofy, he was a better goalie than Elliott, much better than Mrazek or Lyon and much more durable than Neuvirth.
- BiggE

12-13 Bryz was so bad he was bought out and never played another full NHL season. So no, he's not better than Elliott. Also, Coburn missed a lot of that season thru injury and was poor when he did play.

The fact is a Flyers roster with clearly inferior talent to the current one managed to be a very good penalty killing team. This was the top 8 defense by ice time in 12-13 - it's laughable how untalented they were past Kimmo.

LW or C, Giroux was gonna score a buttload of points last season regardless.

Not like his positioning in the ozone is any different if he starts the shift in the middle or on the wing anyway -- he's always gonna be somewhere in the left-circle/left-wall, and the big body on the line will be parked in front of the net.

It lightened his load a bit defensively, but not to the degree where it enabled his 100pt season or anything.

If he's healthy, and not saddled with any mediocre talent, I think he'll score a ton next season at C, or at LW. It shouldn't really matter. If the team is deeper with him the middle, so be it.

He is also not getting to 100 pts again at either position

biggest contributing factor to the LW move resulting in points is who he got to play with. He went from playing along side Jordan Weal and Wayne Simmonds to Coots and Konecny/Voracek
