Since Arizona loves to have contracts for people that don’t play they should do a little PR work for their fans and pick a season ticket holder at random and give him a million a year for 5 years. |

They can't utilize the LTIR in the offseason so the entire cap hit stays against them until the season begins. What this trade allows is more flexibility on the overall cap to probably resign a couple of players. |

Can't put a player on LTIR until first day of the season (or maybe preseason). So that money isn't there until then and can hamper deals to get players. |

A lot of talk about the Hossa cap space. I thought Chicago got out from under that because of the Long term IR rule? Was it coming back on them this year does anyone know? |

Hopefully this is all so that Chicago can turn around and overpay Seabrook, even moreso than he already was |

In all fairness Tanner doesn’t know what hockey is - Kaden
Tanner is worse than a fly turned green on a pile of dog diarrhea. It's an abomination that he's allowed to write about my team; a team in which he knows virtually nothing. He knows little more about the sport itself. A clown is what he is and I refuse to click on his garbage nonsense again.

Ha, no, but they are making a push for Pacioretty right now. Will they get it done? Dunno. But this deal was apparently necessary to make something work. |

I thought Hossa's contract didn't matter to Chicago because it's LTIR.
-Queenie_5_hole
You can place a player on LTIR on the first day of the season, it is possible to do before but there is a cap penalty to do it before day 1. The league requires you to be under the Cap before the season starts. I believe you are allowed to go over a certain percentage during the offseason.
Flyers had this happen once with Pronger. They had to activate him on LTIR last day before the season started and there was a cap penalty. |

Major Deal made me think Arizona was trading something of value to Chicago, Arizona gets the best two players in this deal so they win the trade. |
