That 3rd line could easily have 45-50 goals. That would be so refreshing |

best I have seen so far
the one good thing
with erod, berglund, sobotka
there is lots of wiggle room to move up and down lines if an injury happens
of course the girgens, larsson, bailey, baptiste issues need to be addressed
DO SOMETHING GMJB

Well, disagree with the no reason part.
IF the alleged locker room cancer issue is true, that is plenty of reason...addition by subtraction.
Furthermore, his age didn't fit the optimal profile for when this team will be better the season after next as he'll be 29/30 Then and declining k. An expensive contract for a perceived key player... yes, they got back a couple of older players, but they are temporary fill-ins for a couple of seasons...not core members going forward.
They replaced his expected production, and got additional value in picks and another young player...not sure any of them will rival ROR alone, but equally not sure they can't either in time.
So to say no reason isn't accurate, you may not like it and that is your right to feel that way. - IonSabres
Speculation that he will be declining after next year
And in the last year of his contract,
he turns 32
His age fit perfectly imo |

I’d have Okposo as line 1 RW
Put him with Jack, so his scoring is as high as possible
Then maybe we can trade that contract in the offseason
And I’d give Bailey & Baptiste a shot before i put Thompson in the lineup,
since he can be sent down without needing to clear waivers
But i still think Bailey/Baptiste could be decent players for us
I know most on here don’t |

I'm super sold on Olofsson. Kid's gonna be a STUD. Mark it down boys. He's the best thing to come out of the 2014 draft for us not named Samson. |

I expect a lot better balance in the top-9. We could potentially have 1 or 2 guys on the 3rd line score close to 20 goals (Berglund/Pommer/Erod). It's been years since we've had solid depth scoring - jcragcrumple
That's part of what made us so Dominant during the Briere, Drury years. We had a 3rd line with Vanek, Roy, and can't remember the 3rd but they were able to put up a good amount of points from the 3rd line. I think we are inevitably building towards that again. With guys like Asplund and Pu as well as a few others who may fit in great on the 3rd line, we should be able to replicate the way our team was last time we were good. |

if that is our top line production, we are a bottom 6 team again - homiedclown
You think 200 points from the top line isn’t enough...???? I don’t know man, what other teams top lines producing?? 200 points is a lot of point for one line.

We know. Best stretch of his career, when none of the games mattered. Anyone feel confident he'll keep that up?
Jack + Sam on a line has always been fine, but nothing remarkable. Tage has a completely different skill set, and I'm anxious to see it with Jack. - Lunaion
To be fair, when have any of the games really mattered the past 3 years? |

So you have to pay for The Athletic ? No thanks. I'm way too old and cheap to pay for things like this. Besides, I get all the hot takes I need right here ! - kritter65

He doesn't seem like a leader to me. He can just be a very good player. That's fine. Eichel seems to have a better voice for leadership to me. - jcragcrumple
Ok, how did you come to this conclusion exactly? Kid has had what, about 1p mi tues of exposure? |

I think labeling Nylander a “true star” might be a touch premature at this point. - PrinceChill

I agree.
Labeling nylander an nhl player is a bit premature |
