Sometime during a 20 page debate Lums just said (frank) it, im leaving HB...
The mods will eventually ban him, but they keep him around for the summer to keep the hits up. - Arctic_AARDVARK
You have a point.
Perhaps Ek pays a Russian troll factory to log in as UG to keep hits up in his most lucrative thread? Maybe this was Ek's 'Russian source' all along? |

32 million in cap space next year. It's not a problem. Stop pretending like adding another great player is a bad thing.
Your valuation of what Marner will get also sucks. Kucherov just got 9.5 AAV after leading the league in scoring. Marner isn't getting 9. And if the Leafs got Karlsson in a trade, they could extend him for 8 years which could lower his cap hit to 10 a year, especially if they give him the signing bonuses he wants that Ottawa won't give him. Same with Matthews. This idea that he's going to get 11 AAV right away without earning it is also asinine. Not to mention the cap goes up every year so the percentage of the total cap they take up will lower over time, as it always has before. It was only 3 years ago that the cap was 69 million. Now it's 79 million. - Unholy_Goalie

He loves to deflect conversations. That was his response to me asking him how many teams in the salary cap era have spent more than half their cap on 4 roster spots.
Instead of being humbled and answering โnoneโ, he responds with this garbage. |

Yesterday you said Tampa (3mil in space ) wouldn't lose a goal if they tried to add Tavares but Tavares has to replace jvr and bozak goals lost.
Even though bozak and jvr are 2 spots and that means Tavares and someone else replace those 2 - burn
Tavares + Johnsson > JVR + Bozak
He only states Tavares as replacing 2 players so his logic doesn't sound as bad. But we aren't stupid and know someone else has to fill one of those spots as well. Which just makes him look more dumb than he already makes himself look 95% of the time on here.

This Karlsson debate is getting nauseous. The reallity of it all is, if you add another 11 mill contract your gonna have to subtract another 11 mill contract. Two 11's can work but three is just not happening. So either kiss Mathews goodbye or both Nylander and Marner. Id mutch rather keep our trio of drafted stars together then have a 20 point upgrade on the back end for a fack of alot more.. |

None of this is happening. When Tavares signed he had in-depth questions about the roster and player personnel, he was told who is staying. I'm willing to bet that he was told that all three wouldn't be going anywhere, which makes getting Karlsson not possible.
Let that sink in. Days of arguing for something which is simply not possible, even with 'Blue and White' logic. |

Yup, and that expensive player still makes just as many bad/dumb plays as Gardiner does. And he can't deny it. I've seen far to many videos of Karlsson out of position or just in general not looking like he knows how to play defense. PASS.
Going to be a long season of listening to UG talk about Tampa, Karlsson and the Bruins.

no to Hamhius
no to Endstrom
I'd rather sign Sbisa that either of these two shrimps... they don't bring anything the Leafs don't already have - he, like Hainsey was good enough to play big minutes for a team that got to the finals... Dallas(Hamhius) not good defensively, and Enstrom was not playing much in the 2nd half of 2017/18 - injured, worn out.
do not attempt to acquire Karlsson - price will be too high to acquire and he'll want Tavares money.
shouldn't have signed Ennis - brings nothing we don't already have and Babcock will always defer to the "vet".... plus uses up a contract which we are "now" supposedly in short supply of
trade one or possibly two of McBackup, Sparks or Pickard
rather try and acquire Trouba or Paryako for a lesser (but still expensive) price

One thing Doughty did for the Kings - is that he made them younger. With a core of players over 30, they should easily be the slowest team in recent memory.

Yeah I'd totally take a flyer on Sbisa. Basically a more complete right-handed Marincin. Gentle giant though, but so's 90% of the league nowadays. |

The bottleneck in your little plan is the assumption Erik Karlsson would want to sign an extension in Toronto. That would be like Luke picking out a room on the Death Star. - BetterCallSaul
Yesterday it was all about Marleau graciously retiring so we can add EK's money. Right when the team is on the cusp of being true contenders. Yeah i could see Marleau saying (frank) it i dont need a cup you guys sign EK, go win that cup without me, i'll sit this one out. |
