I agree, but the Rangers are in as different a spot today than the Oilers were in 2010 ( Hall draft) as they are from Boston when they took a step back ( rebuild w/out tanking). There is no formula that guarantees a Cup. - HonkyTonkMan
Build throught the draft, don't make trades. That is how you win. |

Trust me i watched those teams and I also know the signings they made, the trades they made etc. I'm not some rookie when it comes to this team, this site etc.
My point is, Dolan said he wants to win the way Chicago, the Pens, etc have. Look at those teams back then and they all had #1 overall pics. Besides Edmonton who is the definition of dumpster fire, they took the #1 guy and built around them. I love "most" of the core of this team. To me, Zuuc is who you make captain and build around him as the veteran but i'm not running this team.
I personally don't think making a trade for EK etc is worth it right now. Panarin next summer makes sense if he's available. But if you're going to do it, do it, let the Euro kids stay in the KHL/etc, let the younger kids get some time in the AHL or keep them in college, and go for the #1 overall. Then in 2019/2020 start the process, bring the kids in, sign Panarin, have the core ready to go. Now you don't have to agree with my view, and that's fine as not all will, but honestly the "harsh comments" on this blog are getting to a point where hanging out here and even just lurking isn't fun anymore man. We're all a fan of this team, here to have hockey conversations, not be keyboard cowboys. - MeltingPlastic
Sorry if I offended. Believe me, I've gotten my share here as well.
No harm intended. Im the youngest of three boys, so thats how I roll, i guess
I totally get the tanking comments, but its just not going to happen. Maybe as the trade deadline approaches, guys like zuuc, spooner, and ??? will be traded for picks/prospects, but NYR isn't going to "tank".
The fan base will lose their shiiit if guys like Kreider, Hayes, Zuuc, Hank, Zib etc. are traded for picks/prospects. If that was done than NYR would be in rebuild mode for 5+ years! It will never be allowed.
It isn't out of the realm of possibility that the current roster, along with some of the new prospects play really well under Quinn and turn some heads while doing it. |

Trust me i'm not offended, this board just seems to be on such edge lately i'd rather squash things before they go crazy.
Honestly, if they trade for high draft picks, i'm cool with some guys going BUT we have to have players show they are ready to step in. Plus one of my gripes with trading to contenders is that your first round pick is basically a second round pick. I'd rather trade for high prospects than picks.

we just need them to do something that gives something to talk about
I can't remember an off season ever in the hockeybuzz era where they gave us so little to talk about

Honestly, we probably should have expected it given the desire to re-build the organization through the draft and through prospects acquired via trade. There was just nobody in free agency that was obviously a good acquisition target for the Rangers, and a trade would have to be the Brassard for Zibby type trade to make sense.

Yes they are a bottom 5 team and there is nothing wrong with that. Build through the draft and come back even stronger. |

Idk if they are a bottom five team. Edmonton is still a messs. Vancouver isn't that good. The bottom 1/3 of East stinks. Let's hope the Rangers are though. #LoseForHughes.

CAL signs Elias Lindholm 6x$4.85. No clauses
Term isn't what I want, but the cap hit could be similar to what Hayes might get. |

yeah, that is what my original thought was when that trade was made, Peters must have wanted a couple of his boys, but then I heard that snippet about him and Lindholm having issues, but who knows. |
