i thought he COULD be the next Captain after Drury/Briere

Was one of my fav Sabres
Kinda reminds me of how i feel about McCabe
Hopefully McCabe can get back to playing well though

You make too much out of those 2 year deals. If he signed them to one year deals, they'd have been arb eligible after. A low cost 2 year deal is a conservative play.

I have no issue at all with Girgs in the bottom 6. Larsson on the other hand, was a complete train wreck last season. He needs a strong camp to make the team imo.

Girgs definitely has value, so the 2 year deal is smart.

Larson, was terrible last year.
The year before, when he broke his wrist, Larson had some potential. It's a small contract too

The game was played completely differently in 05-06 when Stafford was coming in, and the Sabres were the greatest beneficiaries of that style change. Now clutch and grab us back and scoringnis down across the league.

Yeah, Stafford’s first year or two I agree.

I didn’t even consider his 30 goal year in 2010.

Again, I’m not saying Stafford is the better player, or Sam will flame out in 3 years.

I’m saying what Stafford was his first few years is what Reinhart is now.

Reinhart needs to build on the latter half of last season to be more than a decent top 6 player, which is what Stafford was at his best

I think you've seen clearly this off season that teams prefer to avoid arbitration.

Larsson needs a strong camp to save his NHL career. He was that bad last year.

I was talking about the next one, but you're probably right, that's his price today, not next year when there's no leverage except the guy making $6.1M on average.

Same for any player. RBs are much more protected than they used to be. You can't go low anymore and that's what killed most guy's careers.
