I’m in no way saying he’s better. I’ll take Sam 10 out of 10 times.

But Stafford’s downfall kind of dillutes his first few years that are comparable to Sam

- sbroads24

I really think 75% of the reason people don't like him is because he's not Tom Wilson.

Sure... injuries could of course change everything

Hopefully at least Larsson or Girgs gets moved
I’d be ok with both getting moved to let the kids fight for a spot or 2

Although i also don’t think that Larsson & Girgs are as bad as ppl on here say
Botts obviously doesn’t think they suck either
I feel like ppl discount that he signed them to TWO year deals
He didn’t have to do that

- jdfitz77

I don’t either, but I think Girgensons is better, but he hasn’t had an actual role in 3 years

Forsberg went one pick before grigorenko. Wilson, Hertl, Teravinen, were like 3 out of the next 4 picks after Girgensons if I remember correctly.

How do we move one when both are protected ?

We certainly aren’t going to move ours

- gerbe75pts

Where are you getting that these draft picks are PROTECTED? They are conditional 1st round picks and the only trouble with trading them is that the receiving team still has to follow the same conditions we have to. It becomes an issue because there is no guarantee the team receiving the pick will get it in the next draft, they may have to wait till 2020 draft, which most teams would probably not prefer to do.

You called him a 'decent' prospect. That's a C to me. Whatever you consider Baptiste, Thompson is a full grade ahead.
- Lunaion

I like Baptiste more than most
So that’s where we disagree

Baptiste
-good, maybe very good shot
-great skater

Thompson
-great (supposedly?) shot
-average skater

I don’t place them far apart at all
But i also have seen VERY little of Thompson
I’m just going by reports & his stats
So i reserve the right to change my mind,
or at least update my opinion

It sounds logical, so probably not. No one knows. And the people that say they can't be traded have yet to prove it.

I’d have said Reinhart
But Ekblad was #1 and Draisaitl was #3 ahead of Bennett on my board

I did think Bennett would be better than this though
If we can “buy low” on him,
I’d be ok with that
Gotta move some guys out though

You make too much out of those 2 year deals. If he signed them to one year deals, they'd have been arb eligible after. A low cost 2 year deal is a conservative play.

I have no issue at all with Girgs in the bottom 6. Larsson on the other hand, was a complete train wreck last season. He needs a strong camp to make the team imo.

No I do like Sam. He should definitely stay.

But the career paths are very similar so far.

Just some perspective

- sbroads24

Age though
And you’ve hated on Sam in the past a bit
Well, more than a bit

You & i had quite a few back & forths about him... pretty regularly dude

I’m usually never wrong about predicting that will be a bottom team

Right now with no legit winger wouldn’t Surprise me if we Finish in the bottom three

there is a clause in Lehner's contract

if he goes o for 8 in the shootout, he can be loaned to a swedish team for the rest of the season

It's really not fair to beat on Thompson for his stats last year, when his were better in AHL and NHL than Baptiste. He's 2 full years younger. Injuries forced him into the NHL before he was really ready.

He's a good prospect. It shouldn't be so painful to say that.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Can someone explain why you Would Not be able to trade a conditional pick?
