I agree, but not all of those people were known as being "Bad" people either and it was also different times. I mean heck even Hilter did great things for the German Economy before WW2.

All I'm saying is that I think there are better people out there to own an NHL Franchise.

And that IMO if James Bond was a real person. Musk would be the perfect real life example of a Bond Villion.... Likely for Piece Brosnan's bond lol

oh, NO DOUBT there are better people to own a team..........although really, anyone with unlimited resources, and not a lot of time to micro manage, seems like the ideal owner to me.

I was just pointing out that I can't stand people who ignore all the great things that Musk has done, and only focus on a couple of bad tweets.

Elon Musk, the guy who thinks he owns his wife. literally admitting to saying “I am the alpha in this relationship” to her on their wedding day.

The guy who said "I want to go to space" so he went and tried to purchased expired USSR rockets instead of getting properly certified first. It's on the up and up now but in the beginning it was so shady.

The EV vehicles, I couldn't care less. I've driven them.... Boring, over priced, no road feel, not reliable, no range and could catch fire at any moment. I'll take a gas powered vehicle that is inspiring to drive, fun and reliable any day.

Among many other things obviously

Some people view him like some sort of saint, others as an elitist stuck up a**hole.

Personally, I kind of go both ways. There are good and bad things to everyone. For me, I love his roof tiles that are solar panels, I think that's a great idea and I can recognize some of the great things he has done. I couldn't care less if he got rich doing it, if some is successful at something.... Good on them.

I like some of the things he does, but as a person I think he's full on crazy.

But in terms of owning a sports team, there are Billionaires who would be a better fit than musk would be. I could see Bill Gates... His wife owns a house in Rideau Forrest. The guy who owns Cirque Du Soleil, among a few others.

- Maverick1818

Pretty sure gas vehicles are way more likely to catch on fire than his EVs, and while they're too expensive for the average person, he's using that money to set up electric charging stations across the US(and starting on Canada, too). He's using the money rich people pay for his cars to build an infrastructure anyone can use, that takes away one of the biggest hurdles the industry had to get started.

He's obviously not a saint, but he's closer to an iron-man type than a bond villain type. Lots of flaws, but lots of cool gadgets too, and generally benevolent.

Players are signing with Ottawa? Why?
Fair enough

Over under on Ottawa getting 60 points this year?
Loser points make it super hard for anyone (even Arizona or Buffalo) to ever finish below 60

Also, odds of CO drafting Quinton Hughes next summer?
Super unlikely since I don't think there is a player with that name in next year's draft, but even if OTT finishes dead last, COl has an 18% chance at best of picking 1st overall

For funsies, everyone name one thing that could go wrong and make this year even more miserable. Already off the table; GM with sexual harassment charges, interpersonal conflict in the locker room and no calling traiding the best defenseman for pennies on the dollar, too easy.

I’m going with Duchenne making a public request for a tradenot needed, he will either resign soon or knows he will be traded by the TDL

There has never actually been a vehicle catch fire more in testing than a Tesla. Plus there are the other numerous issues with them once they are actually in the consumers possession and the company isn't big enough to do recalls so their customer service is useless, as well as being way over priced and Tesla actually loses money every time they sell one. Tesla has been losing about a Billion dollars a year consistently on their vehicle sales.

Where they make money is their investors, government payouts and the promise that the stock will go up, as well as the power grid.

Not to mention when you order a Tesla your deposit is non refundable and there is no guarantee that your vehicle will ever be built.

I know there are a ton of Tesla fans out there and I'll be the first to admit their roadster (an EV rebadged Lotus) was cool. But beyond that, they really do nothing for me. If I could afford that much, I'd likely be getting a Lambo or Spyker or something like that. Or I'd go old school muscle car with new tech.

I like vehicles with personality and soul to them.

I love our prospect pool, I may be over valuing some but I think they could all be difference makers in the NHL fairly soon.

They only one i'm confused about really is Gagne, I've never understood why they haven't given him a chance in the NHL. The guy can score.

Sorry maverick, hate to burst your bubble but unless the sens win BIG in a trade with karlsson they have the same problem they’ve always had — lack of star power.

If karlsson was traded, where would these current players rank in terms of MV players in the nhl

I would say that Stone is somewhere in 30-40 at best. Duchene is likely behind that in the top 50.

Then there’s such a big drop off to who?
Chabot? White?

These guys are f cked bc they don’t have their 1st and any moron kicking sens at this time is a pathetic soul.

This falls mostly on the owner who obviously wants PD to make money decisions NOT hockey ones

Here are Dorian's options

Trade Karlsson to...
(1) TB: for Sergachev in smaller package OR Raddish, Foote, ++
(2) DAL: for MH OR Hunka, Faska, Tufte, ++
(3) VGK: for Glass in smaller package OR Suzuki, Brannstrom

(4) resign him 8 x 11.25m with signing bonuses
(5) loose fan base (except for blind follower)
(6) Owner goes*

According to TSN back in Feb,

Ottawa's top prospects (in order) are:

1. Batherson
2. Brown
3. Chlapik
4. Formenton
5. Jaros

Graduated are:
Chabot (top pairing D-man, likely not franchise or perennial all star like EK)
White (top 6 guy with jam; could turn into a SOLID 200ft player but jury still out on that, could just become a 2nd line lifer that only ever compliments guys on the top line)

More like middle or bottom 6. He's basically Pageau.

I agree with the back he has elements of Pageau's game but he's got more offensive upside, a more consistent shot, better hands around the net, and more offensive instincts. Pageau is a beast in high pressure situations (like Brassard was) and probably has better instincts on his side of the center ice, but I think that's undercutting what Colin White could be. We'll see, I think if you did a redraft, he go 10-12 where Zibanejad should have been taken

Unless they get Heiskanen involved, I really don't like Dallas as a trading partner. Way too many guys that appear 'valuable' as a result of being drafted high, but with minimal production or development since. Dallas is quite frankly a pretty bad drafting team... consider who they passed on to take Gurlanov in 2015, and the fact that they've had 18 first/second round picks since 2012 with very little to show for it. The whole thing just reeks of Spezza v2.0, and that can't happen.

The two key pieces that they absolutely must have in a Karlsson trade are:
- at least one truly high-end young player (eg. Sergachev, Glass)
- a 1st Round Draft Pick in 2019 (preferably one that isn't a lock to be in the 30's)

Honestly, Derick Brassard returned a 1st round pick plus Gustavsson. This really shouldn't be hard to accomplish.
