Interesting that C.J. Smith got the most money of the non-reinhart category of RFAs. That would seemingly make him a front-runner for an NHL LW position, if you believe in a correlation between pay and skill. NHL mock roster 84. Yes, Erod is not an ideal 1LW candidate
Erod-Eichel-Okposo
Sheary-Mitts-Reinhart
Smith-Berglund-Thompson
Bailey-Sobotka-Pommer
Baptiste
Girgs
Scandella-Risto
Bogo-Dahlin

Larsson and Beaulieu exposed to waivers. And nothing of value was lost - jcragcrumple
I like the O-side of the roster better than others posted recently.

don't forget guhle and Asplund in the second round...
am interested to see how third-rounders pu and fitzgerald work out as well as fourth rounders Borgen and murray - Michael Pachla
Murray's career would have been better if he served as an AGM for 20 years to run the draft. Giving him trading privileges was a bad idea |

What is the argument exactly? I’m confused.
So if Reinhart doesn’t put up a PPG soon like Schiefele are we moving the goalposts again?
Reinhart is a good player. It ends there until he proves otherwise
I hope he does |

And you aren't answering the questions asked:
Why would he trade for a player to make him worse?
Why would he sign a player that would undoubtedly score more than the in-system replacement? - RhinoFan

I'd rehire TM as a scout in a heartbeat.
The first draft had some big misses, but generally he drafted well and got us some quality talent out of later rounds. - RhinoFan
Wait what ??? The dude moved a first in 2015 in one of the deepest draft
He was such a good scout that he valued robin over first liners and 2nd liners
Great job |

Not defending the trades here. Still don't think the Kulikov trade was as awful as made out to be. Other than that it was straight poop wall to wall. I get that. I'm just saying when he drafted, particularly in the middle rounds when things get dicey, he seemed to pull out quality.
Horrible GM
Probably has the knowledge to be a good scout |

So out of your 11 guys 3 will not be on the opening day roster
Bowl u
Larson
Girgs
McCabe
Bogo
Who knows, its July and jbotts switched out 10-12 guys already from the beginning of last season
Bowl u a gamble- how do you know botts didnt pick him up to play exactly how he played last year?- terrible
Kane- agreed who knows what was offered when?
Wilson- good add, wasn't gone put the train back on the tracks single handedly
Chad- didnt play that well in calgary the year before, they would have resigned their home town kid.
Tennyson/ Griffin- life time ahl guys. What was your point on this one? Clearly not nhl talent. Losers - Boss34
Bowl u
Larson
Girgs
McCabe
Bogo
We don't know who's going to be here on October 1st. So speaking on the topic from either side is useless, but they're here today. Just a poorly worded argument.
Bowlie was a gamble to play on the bottom 2 lines. He can. He fits Housley's system. He's just a bonehead. He used a pick that works out 20ish % of the time. To replace Josh Gorges. That's an improvement any way you cut it. Sorry.
Kane - Saying you don't know why he was traded because he was helping us lose and we wanted to continue to lose is (frank)ing stupid. At the very least, you can admit that. Botts said the Sharks was the only offer. True? False? Who knows. It sure seemed like it based on the underwhelming return.
Wilson - A depth guy, and pretending he's anything more is foolish, even in an argument as ignorant as this.
CJ - 2.59 GAA, 0.910 SV%, 36 GP. Year before, 2.36 GAA, 0.920 SV%, 36 GP. How is this not seen as a reasonable add?
Tennyson/Griffith - My point? You use these guys as anchors of your tanking argument. They were meant for Rochester. One of them started here because no one else was better than Griffith to start the season. When someone was finally able to supplant him (and Tennyson) it was done immediately, and Griffith and to a lesser extent Tennyson (outside of injuries) were done here. |

Answer the question:
If he was tanking, why trade a 3rd round pick for a defender? You could sign an equally poopty one for free. I'll hang up and listen. |

Yeah
Pouliot was bought out. Clearly not playing well
Bowl u- was a terrible player for the habs.
You keep proving my point - Boss34
The amount of reality distortion here is unreal.
Bought out of his 4 some million contract. Brought here on a 1x1 prove it deal to play depth where we had absolute zero options.
Bowl-U played all over the lineup. That makes him an NHL defenseman. He's better than Gorges. Would you agree? Because I sure would. |

Also : beaulieu had 1 goal in 59 games
Pretty much any other player in the nhl would "undoubtedly " score more goals

If gorges played the entire season and had less then 1 goal, he would have made the Sabres worse.

Rick Nash was paid $229,412 per point.

Some defensemen aren't in the NHL to score. Overall, and I definitely mean overall, Beaulieu in 2017 was more useful than Gorges in 2017 and probably 2016. This is analytically factual. |
