Age was more of a factor. Schiefle had 2 years of Junior eligibility after he was drafted. Reinhart only had one. - buffalofan19
Scheifele was older in his first 3 years
he was also on a playoff team in year 2
sabres never sniffed the post season

I'll disagree that age is more of a factor then who guys play with. And if one guy says he plays with Eichel, go look at who Schiefle plays with. Bad comparison, I didn't make it, but really the level of players on the Jets vs Sabres is astounding. |

But you can't say that every player has gotten more points year over year 3 years into the league. Or that everyone was a ppg (your math) during the 2nd half of the year. So which is it? Actually, don't answer. Sam sucks, will never be a ppg player (because according to you his ppg is 90 points in 82 games) and needs to go yesterday. - SDSabre
Dude gets 50 points and you want me to jump for joy ? He was the first forward taken he should be in the 70 -80 points
Or close to a PPG
We drafted him to be a first line center and now he’s wing thank god we drafted Casey or we be (frank)ed
Tell me would you take him first overall if we did a redraft ?
I’m just disappointed he’s not this wizard center he was projected to be |

If Reinhart is born 2 months earlier, he's drafted in 2013 instead of 2014. Given how out of place he looked in 2014, he'd also have spent 2 years in Juniors after drafted, just as Schiefle did. Age absolutely has a ton to do with it. |

Well if you want to go look at the archives, I was for Ekblad if he fell, and most still wanted a forward even if he was there. But to answer your question, I'm not saying jump for joy. I'm saying let it play out for Christs sake. The consensus for that year was Ekblad then the two Sam's a Drai. Of course I'd take Drai over Skunk, but Pasta and Ehlers weren't in the discussion to do 2 by I would guess 99% of the hockey community. So, I'm not gonna kill Skunk like you are just because he's not putting up Drai numbers yet. If he stays at 50 points in three years, we can have the discussion then. That's all I'm saying. Also, it's a bad practice to say he's the first forward taken, he should be first in points. Datsyuk comes to mind, I'll let you look up what number forward he was taken. It isn't a crystal ball type thing. Lots of factors. |

The only reason why those 2 weren’t in the conversation for 2 they didn’t play center
Centers are the ones that skyrocket in the draft
If scouts knew Sam was never going to play center we might’ve got ehlers

The "something's gotta give" solution - assuming no other trades occur:
keep up - Bailey, Baptiste and Nelson
send down/waive - Larsson, Girgs and Beaulieu

By december, if we're not in the playoff picture, more than half of the board will be trading Eichel |

There is 0 chance we weren't taking one of the Sams or Drai. Simply put, what do you think the reaction would have been in TM's first draft, if he walked up and went WAY off the board to draft a NOT center. I'll tell you right now, even if he thought Ehlers was the best player in the draft by a long shot, 0% chance he takes him.
0, nada, no, zilch, nil, less than one by a total of one. |
