if it's going down, like gerbe said
the damage is done in less then 2 minutes
- homiedclown
More like 2 seconds. 5 minutes is an eternity in that situation. Most often poop happens way too fast for you to recognize what's happening and bring a gun to bear without shooting your pecker off. Unless you train like it's your job. And unless you're a Delta operator or a SEAL, you don't. |

kid should have walked away w/o staring and called the cops as soon as he got around the corner
I never said he should have used a gun once in this story, nor did I advise anyone to
nor did I advise anyone to step in - homiedclown
Ummm....
A) Get a concealed carry permit. Get trained in handgun use. Use said handgun to make a citizen's arrest.
B) Call the Police
Or
C) Don't go into poopty neighborhoods
- feetontheair22
I prefer A or C
-homiedclown
Option A specifically says to pull a gun & get involved sir |

Dirty dozen second
Death hunt 3rd - homiedclown
I know of his movies, but they’re before my time
Death Wish is probably his most known, right?
At least to my memory
I vaguely remember watching some of his movies with my grandpa when i was a little kid

If you’re a Cop, that’s one thing
Even security guards at a bank are told not to pull their guns & try to stop a robbery
Not escalating the situation is the #1 rule in the book
U pull your gun only if absolutely necessary,
as a last resort
*i have a friend who is a bank security guard
So this is not my opinion,
he told me that’s in their training
The last thing he’s supposed to do is potentially put more ppl in harm’s way |

Interesting article
Bills' brass thought Terry Pegula's private plane was going to crash over Rocky Mountains
https://www.democratandch...dermott-pegula/790241002/ - gordong
Saw that today, bunch of pussies can't handle some turbulence. It's bumpy flying over mountains.
I was curious about the embargo on the story until today though. |

Well, he said A “or” C
Meaning (to my interpretation) that he approves of one of those courses of action
Option A
“A) Get a concealed carry permit. Get trained in handgun use. Use said handgun to make a citizen's arrest.”
is foolish |

I'm not even sure cops should get a pass, they don't train nearly enough on the basics. I've seen tons videos where I've seen cops sweep each other with their barrels while they're shooting. Good way to shoot your buddy. There was a story about a guy on 5th avenue in NY had a gun shot a guy, police were already on scene and in shooting the bad guy they also killed 8 innocent people. Either from just plain missing(which usually happens when you just empty your mag instead of taking single aimed shots, or even double taps) or over-penetration.
They need to add encounter training to just range qualifying, and they need to do both much more often. And yes, I know many cops and members of the armed services. And that's them female dogging to me about what needs to be done. Some of that stuff is slowing being utilized, but it's not enough. |

Yeah, i hear ya there
I have friends that are Cops too
They’re taught to pull their guns, just in case
But the main objective is to try & and
de-escalate the situation
Pulling a gun on a group of guys certainly isn’t going to do that
If they have guns,
it turns into a shootout between however many in the group and you
Not good odds
In a situation like Gerbe described...
there’s no “good” answer
Best u can do is call the Cops & hope they get there in time
Not all bad situations have a solution unfortunately |

Yeah, and if it was going to be the bad kind the pilots would've said something, and if they did and they were ignored then they're morons for not listening. They knew exactly what it was and what to do. That doesn't mean it's not going to be bumpy. |

I guess
Pilots don’t always know exactly where/when those conditions will pop up for sure
Either way, I’m not gonna make judgements though
Probably a scary situation to be in |

Sounds like fun to me
.....maybe I just miss Afghanistan
EDIT: At the very least...having a gun on you and knowing how to use it can give you peace of mind that the poop that Gerbe was describing isn't gonna happen to you. |

at the end of the day.. Gerbe has a silver spoon shoved up his white privileged ass and he shouldn't have a need to be in questionable neighborhoods unless he is looking for a toothless gay hooker.. and at that point it is his fault. |

I was near this pizza place Jonny ms in Atlanta and this guy with a group of people took this guys head smashed it against the wall
Of course I’ve seen violence like that in movies but when you see it in real life it was sickening - gerbe75pts

Well you’re obviously trained & been in pressure situations
That’s far from the average guy who goes & gets a permit to carry & spends some time at the range
That guy isn’t gonna be able to handle himself like you though
Surely u can see the difference there? |

living in conservative country like i do i have had several people ask me why i don't have a gun. most of the time i just ignore it or say i dont know. but i have looked at one guy and said given the opportunity that something actually happens and i get it out in time i don't know if i could actually kill a man so i am not going to spend the money and have it in my house for my kids or someone else to accidentally get it. |

Better chance of Lehner making a save than u making a citizen’s arrest
Good luck in your own “shootout”
Maybe you’ll have better luck than Lehner?
But it’s probably gonna end badly
You old guys watched too many Steven Segal movies - jdfitz77
Pretty sure Hank was going to protect himself with a gun. I do not believe he suggested karate chopping the offender?

Your right I was in the south Atlanta when the place I’m staying is north
I’m going to come clean my friends wanted tree so we had meeting with a guy at the gas station over there he said to walk to McDonald’s which was across the street and that was right next to that Johnny Ms pizza place and then I saw it |

Call the police? You can’t be serious. Have you ever been in a situation like this, or are you just hypothesizing? Have you ever had to actually shoot at a person? Just hypothesizing again? Have you ever even seen a gun being fired in person in real life? Hypothesize much? You talk about adrenaline and nerves, those combined most of the time actually make people more clear headed and focused in reality.
Speaking from experience, the cops will take 20-30 mins to show up, then they’ll start talking poop to you and belittling you when they do, much less actually do anything at that point to mitigate the situation seeing how it happened 20-30 mins prior and the threat is long gone (if you’re still alive at that point.) Your fantasy world where all gets solved peacefully by the cops doesn’t exist, never has, and it never will. I will take my gun and ask questions and for forgiveness later. God willing I’ll never have to shoot at someone, but id rather have the option than not. - TheHank
