Not at the 7mil or so he will command

He's going to very careful on medium/long term deals imo. They can't afford to make another mistake, before their window to contend even opens.

A rental could be interesting if he acts as a stop gap until we see what we get out of Nylander and Goaloffson. If one of those 2 looked good at the trade deadline, we could move him for something and then bring one of them up.
It would all come down to what he would cost.
There's probably a select few teams he wants to sign with and a few of them probably cant afford him. MTL can take the best offer or trade him at the deadline if he's definitely not signing with them.
