Yeah, Botts should just trade for Fasching
Serious question...
besides Jack & Sam, which were pretty much obvious choices...
Who that GMTM brought in/drafted will still be here in 3 years? - jdfitz77
He did. His name is Tage Thompson. He’s going to be awesome.
If you get one draft pick a year to pan out, you’re doing good. Guhle, Goalofsson and Asplund come to mind immediately. More than met the quota. Don’t try to defy the 3ER. I already got GMTM acquitted on this board. |

He also didn't win the Vanek for Seguin trade - jcragcrumple
Vanek and Marcus Foligno for Seguin. Darcy was probably nervous of having a Peter McNab for Andre Savard deal again. |

The Sabres were out of the playoffs when Pegula took over - jcragcrumple
Other than buy the team he had nothing to do with the success of the team that year.
Roy goes out with a torn quad. Team faulters.
Sh!tty backup goalie goes 0-5 and doesn’t play after Jan21st.
Enroth get called up Feb 15th goes 8-0-1 (17 our 18 pts). Starting the final 6 games with an injured Miller notching 11 of 12 points to get them in.
Not a Pegula team, the next 7 of failure is though.

There were plenty of ppl who were psyched (or at least hopeful), based on him previously scoring 30 goals a couple times
Didn’t he even have a 40 goal season? |

Not really.
He took over with what maybe 25 games left over? Maybe two weeks before the trade deadline. Any and all failures or successes are still on the other guy. I doubt he was making any player personal input at the time.
Starting in 11/12 any and all successes and (mostly) failures are on him and him alone. |

I didn’t have to look up how GMTM brought in Bogosian, Kulikov, Franson & Gorges
And traded McNabb, Myers & Pysyk
Yeah, thanks GMTM |

Yeah, Lalime sucked.
I'm not gonna wade into this debate too deeply. His major flaw was trusting people too much. He did it with Darcy and Brandon. He also gave everyone under him every tool possible to succeed. He's marketed Buffalo in a great way. Built the harborcenter, brought the combine and the draft here. No one in the hockey department wants for anything. The results have not been there. It sucks. The plan under Darcy was (frank)ed up by GMTM by frittering away assets. If Darcy had remained GM, and they brought GMTM in as AGM to run the draft and to push Darcy to occasionally take a risk, maybe we'd be better.
I don't blame Pegula. He has brought every resource possible to this team. What those under him did with those resources is the biggest problem imo.

Yeah, he did that. Murray was seen as an up-and-comer at the time though. The failures of those under him are theirs alone though, imo. Pegula has given them the resources they need to sink or swim. |

Sabres were in 8th place 3 points ahead of Carolina 79-76 (with 10 games to go)
Sabres go 8-1-1 (Enroth was 5-0-1) to pick up 17 points out of 20 (96 pts) to jump ahead of the Rangers for 7th place (93 pts).
Carolina finished out 7-2-1 (15 of 20 pts) to finish 9th place 2 points out (91 pts).
Miller goes down with an Injury and is diagnosed with an upper body injury which sidelines him for the remaining 6 games of the regular season.
Without Enroth's play in net, the team finishes out of the Playoffs.

Leadership starts at the top.
If those below the leader aren't using the resources available correctly, the blame falls on the leader. |
