If summer would take 5 years 30 million that would be the largest hometown discount I could see humanly possible and that would be a steal. |

Yup, that is the best the Flyers could hope for.

Still can't believe the Devils skipped over Provorov. - hereticpride
I know I've said it before, but as soon as the Devils picked Zacha, I had this fantasy of Hexy getting up fro his chair, pushing people out of the way as he ran to the stage and just screamed into the microphone "PROVOROV, GIVE US (frank)ING PROVOROV!!!" |

That can be said at just about every draft about a lot of teams/players. - Streit2ThePoint
Not really in this case though. The consensus was largely
that Provorov was a fairly safe pick to develop into a top pairing D man. Zacha was largely viewed as a boom or bust prospect. |

Technically Flyers got a major steal to select Patrick, who would they of drafted if they didn't win the lottery.... |

Don't have any opinion on Scoot Stevens, but Scott Stevens can eat a Richard. Domi was a gutless puke but when it comes to the Leafs of that era, I hated Darcy Tucker much more. Barnaby was an annoying little weasel, but occasionally he did make me laugh out loud with some of his antics. Guys like Kasparitis, Ulf Samuelsson and James Neal can rot in hell for all I care, I have no respect for that type of cheap shot P.O.S. - BiggE
I agree that Tucker was more annoying (we love you, Sami!), but Domi's actions in the Burt incident were just embarassing. Tucker at least answered the bell whenever asked.
And I agree on Dale Hunter. Having his number retired is another reason I hate the Caps organization. |

Loyalty and hometown discounts are fine, but no player, including Simmonds is going to take a 3 year deal for something like 21 million when other GMs are going to put 6 years and 35 million or so on the table. Not gonna happen. - BiggE
True, I am just thinking if Simmonds has a down year, the other GMs may be more like—max 4 year. If the difference in term becomes only 1 year, he may stay. |

Not sure I want a 36 year old Simmer, six years from now pulling down a 6 mil cap hit. I don't see any way a 5 year term with 1 year still on his contract works out well for the Flyers. Hexy mentioned term in his interview. I think he will try, but if someone comes knocking, I think Simmer is gone. |

So any thoughts on stadium series and trouba ? - Tfaehner
I think the Stadium Series is a joke and, like most things the NHL does, they killed one of the best ideas they ever had (Winter Classic) by massively overdoing it. I never plan on attending another outdoor NHL game.
I think Trouba has made it clear that he doesn't really want to play in Winnipeg, and I would love the Flyers to get him. But I don't want to give up Sanheim/Myers/etc. for a player who's going to be resigned to big money in 1 year. |

If that really was their guy all along, do you think they would have traded down from 13 into the early 20s? |

re Trouba:
With Winnipeg expecting to contend for a Cup this year and Trouba part of their top shutdown pairing, my guess is that the Jets bite the bullet and just ride it out for now. However, if they can't get a long term extension done before the end of the season, I fully expect Trouba to be traded at or just before the 2019 draft. Tyler Myers 5.5 million hit comes off the books after this season, so the cap space should be there if Trouba is willing to sign an extension. |

Yes, but that's only because it's always been his dream to play for them.
Honestly, if Winnipeg was offered either of Nylander or Marner straight up for him, they'd have to do it. Marner would be a win for Winnipeg, but Trouba would immensely help TML's D. |

I agree, if it were up to me, Simmonds would have probably been dealt at the 2018 draft.

On a separate Simmer note. If he signs a four year extension which will take him out 5 years from now, does that make Allison go the UFA route in 2 years with no ELC because Simmer has him blocked for three more years? |

I'm fine with including the Richards and Carter deals in any "Top Flyers trade" list. People from that trade are still on the roster and are part of the current core of the team.
The real victim of that day when the Richards/Carter deals went down (other than Carter's feelings) were the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Carter trade hampered Columbus greatly, in that, not only did Carter not want to be there, but when he got shipped out to LA, CBJ got Jack Johnson and a conditional 1st in the deal. |

Morgan Frost - bmeltzer
You truly believe Flyers would of selected Morgan Frost higher in the first round then selected someone else with their later pick?
I'm going with Martin Necas.
EDIT: Does that include the assumption Schenn never gets traded? |

necas was 10th...I think they would've picked a defenseman or traded back, but I have never seen what their board looked like |

Could happen, hard to guess at this point in time. Hextall isn't known for giving out NMC/NTC protection so if he is signed to an extension there is no guarantee that he's not traded in a couple of years or perhaps even lost in the 2020 expansion draft.
