Don's mentoring me on how to pick up beautiful women by ignoring them, looking interesting while posting of HB while refusing to participate in charity.

One makes the play one creates it. Both have the ability to create separation in their own way. Jake has speed. EP has finess. Seems like they could be a good match.

lots of ways to look at this. Anything is possible.

More quality not quantity not the other way around.
- Nighthawk

What do you consider a quality pick?

How many 2nd and 3rd round picks have they dealt in the past 4 years? How many players on your list of potential guys you are excited about are from the 4th round or beyond?

I’ve been working since 11 am. That’s almost 12 hours of time I would have been complaining about working if it weren’t for the Canucks

I like jasek palmu brassard gunnarson theissen utunen rathbone and gaudette.
Although some of them will never play for the Canucks I always maintain hope, once they have been selected by Canucks.
I remember many years ago when Theo Fleury was drafted by the Flames and he was expected too be only a minor league point producer for them...he sure proved everyone wrong.

I feel like Jake and Elias would complement each other well.
- thundachunk

Jake: “Elias, you look nice today, did you get a hair cut, or put on some weight?”

Elias: “Thank you for noticing Jakub, yes to both! And you are looking well yourself, perhaps you lost a kilogram or two, have you been hitting the gymnasium for frequently?”

I think you’re right, they do compliment each other well.

Yeah, I only know any of these guys names because they are Canuck picks. Not too keen on Gunner, even the poop down D in the NHL put up points in the junior leagues. The kids who skate well, and put in the time will probably play pro hockey, though it might not be in the NHL.

Phenomenal, I used to sing this to my daughter, now she sings it to her daughters.

There is like 140000 Fleury-esque busts for the one that makes it through.

If two of those players turned into anything above space filler it would be remarkable.

Go pick a random Team Canada from the WJC from like anywhere from the last 5-15 years. Those are 20ish of the best regarded prospects breathing at that point in time. For all that pedigree and draft position, like 3-5 guys a team hit their ceiling, 10 become various degrees of whatever to useful, then the rest are washouts and pure busts.

Quality picks are in rounds 1 & 2.

I’m fine with who was picked & don’t find the past matters today. What picks traded happened.

Unearthing gems are in later rounds.
Gaudette Rathbone Jasek Palmu
Take risks on players that have a hole in their game if they have other skill sets that are good. 1st is skating 2nd is a great motor. Fix holes in their games in Utica or castoffs later on if no results & replaced with more draftees.

This is a horrible way of looking at running an organization, let alone a rebuild. Can we acknowledge that the higher the pick, the more likely they are to become NHLers? Absolutely, but its the same mindset that gillis had and look at how our prospect cupboard was left when he was gone. All picks matter. Some more than others obviously, but if we have learned anything from our past, its that acquiring picks (in ALL rounds) should always be a goal, especially for a team in our position.

The point was a) too many “quality” picks thrown away and b) there are plenty of guys in the later rounds that you are interested in, don’t you think it would be better to have more of them instead of less of them, when the cost of having less of them is a fringe NHL/AHL/KHL player? If we’re not in a hurry, why hurry?
