Its never ok to be any of those imo. But we are talking about things resurfacing 10 years later that is in writing are we not? - Codes1087
We are talking about saying things that are racist/homophobic/intolerant at anytime in your life. Whether you said it to a friend, out in public and someone heard you but didn't know who you were, or on the internet. I really don't believe that at anytime someone has not said something to offend someone else. |

And please see my edit on the post above. I am as tolerant of other people as they come. I advocate on things that most people roll their eyes on. Its never ok to be intolerant but thats just my opinion - Codes1087
As I grew older, I also became much more tolerant. I was never perfect though. It takes growing up. These teenagers are no different then just about every other teenager. |

You can believe whatever you want man. My dad had it ingrained in us to be reapectful on the internet always. And i just told you, i am a multicultural man with a gay sibling, if you really dont believe that i grew up being not only tolerant of other races and peoples sexual orientation based on what i have told you, i dont know what i can to make you believe me lol |

Kids are stupid. But kids growing up these days are absolute idiots (especially with social media). Do i think that kids should be punished for poop they write 10 years ago on twitter when they were prepubescent little poops? No. But do i think they should be held accountable in some way for thinking of getting away with writing homophobic and racist stuff at an age where they should probably have some common sense to know it might be a bad idea to hurt them later? Yes |

It made more sense to lose picks when the team was dominant than when we werent and were still losing them. I for one think that even successful teams should be always looking to acquire more picks when possible. - Codes1087
I agree with you. There are times when successful teams should be acquiring picks, but much of the time they are just trying to compliment what they already have and the cost is picks.
Gillis did move too many imo, such as trading for Derek Roy which i was against at the time. Trading picks away when you're clearly on the decline is a totally different matter though. Trying to prop up a team to the middle of the pack is a complete 180 from what should be done. |

Where do they prove it?
NCAA? CHL? AHL? SHL? KHL?
Only so many spots in the pros. - Nighthawk
This makes no sense. At each stage you prove yourself capable and if you are better than someone else you get the job.
I really can’t fathom how or why you are arguing against having more draft picks. |

Marwood taught you that ?
But seriously I always find the word tolerant as the wrong word to describe what you are saying.
You don't tolerate your gay sibling right? You're inclusive, supportive, etc. |

None of these things make all actions free of consequence though. Kids are idiots on social media these days, but i give them zero excuses and zero sympathy tbh. |

Teenagers are confused bundles of hormones seeking an identity. They have no clue of what they're doing half the time and much of what they do centers around seeking acceptance or attention.
Holding people accountable as adults from what they did when they were kids is assinine, that's why the courts have a system for young offenders. |

Kids these days also have way more access to be stupid. I got my first cell phone at 17 years old. I have never owned a tablet or a laptop. I see parents handing toddlers tablets now to keep them occupied. Parents are almost setting kids up to fail at this point (sorry in advance to parents who give their kids technology super early) |

Exactly, some social justice warrior with nothing better to do but search out peoples mistakes when they were teenagers. They need to get a life. It's not as if these players are on social media weekly making these comments.

Carol Schram: Was Trevor Linden backstabbed and forced out of the Vancouver Canucks?
The latest story making the rounds after Trevor Linden's departure from the Vancouver Canucks suggests betrayal of Linden at the hands of Jim Benning and John Weisbrod. - Carol Schram
"...his recent 'how to rebuild' fact-finding tour?"
Wasn't this a result of not wanting to put the Sedin's through a full tear-down re-build in their final years? |

How many players from each draft do you think are any good? By any good I mean a player that is able to keep and hold a spot anywhere in a line up year after year. |

My dad was a businessman, and made sure we always had access to computers and the internet and technology and whatever. He also said, the internet is "forever", so always be mindful of whatever you write or say cause it can always come back to haunt you. So to answer your question, yes, i have not ever been a racist/homophobic/intolerant bumhole on the internet lol
And to further prove my point. I am a half asian man with a gay sibling. I am as tolerant/PC as they come without being a snowflake. - Codes1087
I take offense to this weather related slur. |

My son is a teenage boy, he would never admit to not knowing what he is doing. He would defend to the death his ability to know everything, especially when it comes to a parent trying to suggest a better way... |

Thought it was a compliment at the time but really it wasn't. |

If you think the tide pod thing or any other "viral trends" like this are actually widespread you might want to read up on it. The fact is that when stuff like that becomes a "trend" it's because lots of people are watching one or 2 idiots doing it not because lots of people are actually doing it |

Quality = elite talent
Quantity = B & C prospects
Round 1 elite talent is expected
Round 2 can find hidden elite talent that develops later on. B prospect
Round 3 players have holes in their game
Round 4-7 are projects or late bloomers more likely to never play in the NHL or even in the AHL. Overlooked potential.
YES players have been found in late rounds.
NO more picks guarantees anything
YES more high round picks are good
Odds & Probability are not one & the same - Nighthawk
You need to go sit in a corner and think about this for a while and come back with a clear head. There are only ever a handful of elitely talented kids in every draft. Brendan Gaunce is not an elite talent, but he is a first round pick, he is an NHL player, and he will in all likelihood fulfill his potential as a late 1st round pick. Boeser, Pasternak, even Barzal are the anomaly.
If later round picks are a shot in the dark, would you rather have more shots? There is nothing in the CBA that says you have to sign a player to an ELC. Personally, I would love my team to have 20 draft picks every year, and only sign the top 2 or 3 players (or more if they deserve it), then signing every one of the five selections I made. |

I was actually going to say the same thing. Wasnt it a few toddlers who ate them and it was more of a tragic story than actual teenagers eating them for fun? I might need to brush up on the story but i thought it was more of a sad story for a few parents than it was a trend for teens |

It might seem unfair to some but the fact is social media and posting on the internet is permanent. If your kid is posting online at any age you should already have had a discussion with them on what is and what is not appropriate to put on there.
I'm sure for any of us when we were younger there were words we used or opinions we had that nowadays we no longer use/have. Personally even if I was saying those things in day to day life I knew better than to post anything potentially inflammatory online because I was taught not to do so. |
