I read somewhere yesterday that TL's recommendation to Hughes was that he return to the NCAA for another year. Based on JB's comments it seems he was on board with that as well as he told Hughes he couldn't guarantee him a roster spot.
Hughes going back has nothing to do with the TL firing, he was going back no matter what. - NorthNuck
If he was going back no matter what, then why did it take so long to make the decision? |

I meant as of the TL firing I think the decision was more or less already made.
Pointing out that trying to connect the 2 is a non-starter for a story |

He was supposed to make his decision at the beginning of the month. I think it has everything to do with the management tire fire. |

Cassels signed in Germany. Remember when people thought he was an A because his linemates were able to contain mcdavid in one playoff series. |

I started typing out 2 messages. Then just deleted them. The best part of this discussion was the soccer coach eating boogers.
We'll see Hughes in Dec for the World Jrs.
We can see EP, AG, JD and OJ at some point this season. Enough for me to be more intrigued than last year. Oh and a healthy BB.
This TL story wouldn't be as big if it wasn't TL.
Aqua man preferred JBs ideas rather than TL I guess. What's the difference? I dunno. This team isn't going to make the playoffs. They have been bottom of the league for how many years? Their signings insulate. They don't keep us from tanking. Guys can be traded now. We finally have depth. Not great players to trade. But still assets.
I'm just waiting till the Vancouver draft. No less than 5 picks in the 1st 3 rds. Edler needs to go. If Tanev has a injury free season, then u move him too. |

Linden may well be right that the team is a far cry from the playoffs — it’s hard to argue against that notion — but picture it from Aquilini’s perspective. The executive that you hired to turn the team around and promised a quick return to playoff contention, now approaches you after three years of missing the playoffs and says the team will likely miss the playoffs for another three years before they’re a contender. Fair enough reasoning, but it makes me wonder if FA was really that clueless all along or if he knew the state the team was in and just didn't want to admit it. |

Pratt : Make no mistake Quinn Hughes went back because of the Linden firing , brother what a gong show
IMac : Make no mistake Quinn Hughes decision had nothing to do with Trevor Linden

Imac has always been the team's mouth piece. You can basically invert any statement he makes and pull the truth out of it.
I don't care much for Pratt, but in general I can see the kid and his agent looking at this situation as its unfolded and be like "we're gonna go for now. we'll check back in later." - Lindenis#1
Really? Thats what you think? Only in high school........ |

Quinn went back to school because he saw the success Werenski and McAvoy had.
Also he saw his future teammate go back for his sophomore year then come into the league and have success.
He overruled Benning trying to F up his development. |

Neither do I. However the Hughes family might be hesitant to join a team when there is obvious turmoil coming out of the front office. Pretty funny, huh.
This management team is nothing more than lap dogs to a narcissistic egomaniac. |

After all the drama over the past week in Vancouver, I'm happy to be in Kamloops. Quinn and Jack Hughes are doing their thing and hockey's best teenagers are full of optimism as they look ahead to their upcoming seasons, World Juniors and their potential NHL careers.
I'm leaving the big club alone for a minute.
My thoughts from Day 1 and the setup for Tuesday's games, in the new blog:

Its kind of remarkable that for all the "talent" the team has stocked into the system after being the worst team on average since 2016, everything literally hinges on Hughes (drafted 2018) becoming a legit first pair defenceman, and EP (drafted 2017) learning to be a #1 center despite having like 9 games experience at the position in the last year and a half. - Lindenis#1
The penalty for not drafting D for far too long adding cup runs to the fray |

There was no rush. Trades might happen or not to open up a spot. If Utica wasn’t best for him or the team its the NCAA. The NHL burns a year of ELC. AHL or NCAA does not. Boils down to the Nucks have 1 mire year of control & he can chase his Frozen Four dream. |

Though not a Flyer fan or do i give them as much credit for drafting as some do their methodology makes sense.
Lots of D drafted high & years earlier than us. Allows hit & misses & faster rebuilds. Them having extra picks & picking C’s helps as well. That all said not all their D prospects are doing as well as wanted but still a nice young stable. Other picks are ok & Nolan was lucky to win but he seems to be an injury concern that won’t go away. |
