My hatred of Benning is purely on mismanagement, or what I perceive to be mismanagement. Not ifs. Even if some of the moves wouldn't have turned out, which naturally some of them wouldn't have, simply making the right moves betters your chances of success in the future IMO.

Benning gambled on players other teams had essentially given up on, I would have gambled at the draft.

- LeftCoaster

I dont know how anyone can even argue against this.. as the moves he made gambling on other teams trash have been terrible

What if Van traded Tanev for 2- 1st round picks 3 years ago? Your hate is based on "if"

That would have been good. This team might actually one day have a shot of making the playoffs again.. instead here we are this pile of poop.

- mauryballstein

Totally, they will never make the playoffs again. We are doomed

I would have Voynov, providing he's gotten treatment for his alcoholism. Which is what fuelled the incident, from printed accounts.

Craig McTavish was a drunk in his early 20's and he killed a young lady drinking and driving, went to prison for a year. He's never touched a drop of alcohol since, so I've read, and the NHL opened it's arms to him.

Why not Voynov?

My first thought: "nah, Vancouver, and especially the Canucks, LOVE Trevor Linden. This can't be true at all." VERY doubtful

Second though after reading two sentences...and seeing Steve Simmonds' name:
"Yep, thought it was complete BS."

Simmonds is one of those guys that lacks so much credibility that the person mentioning his name loses credibility.

Meh, i give it 3 years tops. If they try to shortcut it then they won't ever be much of a threat but if they bottom out this year and get lucky they could become a contender rather quickly.

For the record, I'm starting to like what the Canucks are building, I think the future, although maybe a few years out, is VERY bright.

You can have your own opinion on JB's mismanagement.

This is the point we are trying to make to you. You don't know what's right and what's wrong. No one does. It's completely unpredictable. Just because he didn't do what you would have done doesn't make it wrong.

For your add. So really, you wouldn't be happy no matter what JB does.

every team is getting better every year except the canucks we just keep giving away picks for trash which is delaying any shot we have plus we have to hope that petterson and hughes are all stars and that every other draft pick hits their mark which wont happen

Look...I'm in my 50's, I've been a fan of this team for longer than some of you have been alive, I know I've got a sour outlook on things but you'd have to look at it from my perspective.

I've seen the team be mismanaged for so long that it pisses me off to no end when I see the things Benning is doing, I've learned to pessimistic from this; therein lies my frustrations with him. It a long a storied road for me to this point.

Eventually they'll get better, I just wish it was an easier road to follow along the way.

You don't need every player drafted to become a significant impact player in order to field a competitive team. I can't overstate how poopty it is to have our goaltending situation from last season. If EP and Hughes don't become all-stars then we missed the boat at the draft....

You think boeser is boring so you have real high standards. That’s your right as a fan. As long as the Canucks win a cup in our lifetime we are all winners

You're correct in that my way vs his way could've lead to the same path, although I very much doubt it. For me it's about his chosen path, I think it was wrong, and it's not hindsight because I've always disagreed with it.

So I'll continue to female dog and complain until he eventually gets it right or he's fired, because one of those two things will happen.

As I said on a previous blog, even the worst managed teams eventually get better because of the draft; the Oilers produced a 100+ point season two years ago.

that 4th and how many times has that happened?

how many times did they not deal a UFA for picks? Vanek, hamhuis

how many players with bad contracts have been dealt with assets to clear cap space?

you cant tell me all these bad decisions dont add up
