Great read Justin, I was hoping for Khudobin over Ward but don't think they would have got him for 1 year. |

Agreed on all items.
This issue is first and foremost about CC and his health.
McD has no business spinning to influence interest/ticket sales in a way that is not being 100% honest about CC's predicament.
The TRUTH is, CC is not even 100% ready to get on the ice right now to test the waters. THAT should have been what was communicated out by the FO marketing machine. NOT false hope that he will be back in time for camp.
In the end it blew up in McD's face when CC said as much himself, hence the controversy now surrounding the issue.
What this does speak to is that the proposition that winning puts butts in seats drinking beer and buying jerseys is 100% true, and the crumbling of the mountain of season ticket holders on the wait list is in fact a real thing that news such as CC's is not good for.
Just be honest. A good lesson in most areas of life. - Return of the Roar
Well said.
Again, I'm not buying off ice issue......if it was you wouldn't have seen a random practice from him and then off again. That points to fore front of a concussion and the different steps it takes to get clearance. it also explains his obvious frustration and concern on "long term health". Guy just had a kid, and with CTE being in the fore front, being financially set for life....and what point does that all outweigh pushing yourself to get back with long term risks.

Hey Savvy great post - my thoughts echo yours and Rainman's as well as Walleye and some others...this is what I posted last night.
This isn't about Crawford's health issues and knowing what's wrong with him. Whatever CC's medical issue I would think we all hope he gets the help he needs long term moving forward and that's more important than any sports team.
The question here is the Hawks framing the situation to fit their narrative. The Hawks claiming that everything is all roses and puppy dogs. Because that's what the Hawks have done since McD took over - they control the message.
But it certainly looks like the Hawks didn't truly know what the condition was regarding one of their own players while telling anyone that would listen he's fine. And it just happened to be the starting goalie who's crucial to this team's rebound this season.
The optics don't look good and the Hawks have a history of medical issues with their own players - See Marty Havlat for starters. - DK002
I agree on most of this but I contend they knew he had a concussion and after watching 19 take a long to recover in 2012 they should have known better.
Not a fan of his, but Lazerus came out early in this whole thing during the season and knew CC was done. He went on record and the Hawks meantime kept playing the "we hope" to have him back by season's end.....so either an agent or player told Lazerus that OR a team source did and that completely contradicts the narrative the Hawks were trying to tell.
Either way....it's a circus and more reason to REBUILD a nasty word nobody at 1901 w Madison wants to say.

Here’s the most disconcerting thing for me, IMHO, one of two things is going on:
The Blackhawks and Crawford along with his medical team aren’t on the same page. Your basic failure to communicate.
Or
The Blackhawks and Crawford along with his medical team are on the same page in terms of knowledge about his condition.
But, each has decided to take a different approach in terms communication with the public. The Blackhawks taking a (I’ll be nice) more optimistic nothing to see here, everything is going be just fine approach.
Where as Corey decided to take a more straight forward unvarnished approach. I’m not 100%, but I’m working hard trying to get better, but I don’t really know and can’t give you a definitive timetable. - walleyeb1
I think the issue is whatever the problem is, the duration for a complete cure is unknowable. A broken bone has a range of time to heal. A sprained ankle, the same. If your dealing with vertigo, or something neurological, a concussion, etc., you’re not going to have a specific period. It becomes, it’ll be better when it gets better, without knowing when.

A lot of pessimistic talk on here today . I would not be surprised to see Crow back in the net ,and playing well to start the season . It would be a shame to lose Frosberg for nothing , I believe Q destroyed his confidence all most immediately when he took the lead spot . |

Justin your analogy of using some everyday common worker is pathetic. Please give us a break and show more respect to us the fans who pay their salaries.
If this team can't be honest with its fan base as well well as season ticket holders who expect a great on ice product, then they should expect a significant drop off in sales.
Looking at this teams many problems , with no clear vision or urgency to address them why should we as paying fans be expected to pay or promote this type of behavior or garbage being passed off as a competitive team.
We deserve better then this. - Taylorst1
lt's not a good idea to let the other teams know your specific injury weakness especially in the NHL.

Pulled him to quick ,never gave the kid a chance to get his feet under him .. Should have been used more down the stretch instead of Glass ,just horrible goalie management nothing new for Q .... |

If you're a STH, lets suppose for a moment that Patrick Kane has what eventually results in a season ending injury at say game 10, do you expect a full refund for the balance of the season ? |

No.
Highly doubt anyone else would be thinking this way.
The issue, again, is what is coming out of the Hawks brass' mouths:
From the Chicago Sun Times 6/21/2018:
“What I said at the end of the year is still the case now. We expect Corey to be back,” Bowman said during a pre-NHL draft conference call with media. “We don’t have any reason to think that’s not going to happen.”
“All the players are preparing for next season. Corey is in that same preparation mode. … Nothing has changed.”
That's just one example; there are plenty more.
Yet Crawford comes out and says he's not 100%. He's making small improvements but doesn't know when he will return.
So . . . 1 of 2 things:
1. Crawford hid his progress or lied about his progress to the club paying his salary.
2. Hawks brass knew and Blowman was directed to deflect, to say he'd be ready.
I highly doubt #1 -- that they didn't know anything. And if #2, we are back to my original statement: Hawks brass was disingenuous about the situation in order to "fool" the STH's, advertisers and anyone else that might NOT want to spend their hard-earned $'s for a club clearly compromised by their 1 and only goalie still being down for who knows how long.

Thanks JL.
We can all speculate on the issue. Concussion related. Addiction related. Or another medical physical/mental issue.
We can all speculate on the cause of the issue.
We can all speculate on what Crow, his doctors and Hawk's management knows about it, how they are handling it, and when and if there will be full recovery.
But there are some issues that are not black and white. Who does not know someone who has some issue that doctors are not 100% certain about, are trying various treatments, and are unsure about recovery time if ever.
It would be great if we all could set this aside and just post our comments with Plan A (Corey coming back by the beginning of the season at his previous performance level) and Plan B (Corey is out at the start of the season for an indefinite period of time). At the end of the day that is all that matters.
And of course we should hope/pray that Corey does recovery fully and as soon as possible both for his sake and the Blackhawk's sake. |

Those other teams should be willing to offer more than the Blackhawks. I like the idea of adding him for a year, just not if he is going to cost very much. If the team becomes sellers at the TDL, they can get something for him. If the stars align, he could be part of a run (which seems less and less likely by the day.) |

You guys do like to paint everything as a conspiracy...I will say that. The guy is obviously hurt and may not play for awhile. Can't we leave at that rather than trying to figure this out like Watergate or something?

Pulling a young goalie trying to find his footing in the NHL is a poor way of trying to get the kid some confidence .
This team quit on the coach at the end of 2016-17 for some reason ,and the sooner the FO deals with that the better |
