On the Buzz, people can have normal conversations that go to & forth & end pretty quick with an outcome - some agree to disagree.
It's only when certain wienerheads want to cyber bully & abuse others with different opinions & digress & refuse to answer simple questions that it goes berserk & end up going on like the days of our lives.
Just an insight into my thought process, I look at individual games & players doing things rather than throw everything in a maths formulae & end up with an overall outcome. It's why some of my opinions go against mainstream as I identify discreet events that form the outcome of a game. It's why I don't consider Corsi as a valid stat. Sure it goes against the grain of the general hockey opinion, but t I haven't grown up with being told how to think about it. I don't accept that all games are played the same & in the exact same environments. And insults really don't bother me, I'm old enough not to get too worried about being a target - years of playing a contact sport I suppose (& being married with kids). The behaviour is pretty low though & has no place in here. - Aussiepenguin
I can understand that. Regardless if your opinion is right or wrong, name calling is just sorta insulting to a debate. It's why I can't stand name calling in politics too. You can call someone a racist or a snowflake, but that's not gonna solve anything.

Name calling is a sign of frustration that an argument is not going well or an attempt to bully someone from debating the matter. Also an attempt to end the discussion because you cannot debate the subject objectively, you are losing said debate & you want to try & belittle the person you are debating with or you're an immature grub that has no social skills. Any normal person usually won't insult the other person unless really provoked to do so. There are a couple of cyber bully's on this thread unfortunately. |

Morning stupid thoughts on this Karlsson/Kessel rumor...
I want to preface this by stating I don't want Kessel moved.
Let's say this would involve Kessel going to Ottawa then Ottawa flipping him to Vegas. IMO that would mean Maatta is the odd man out and could be used to replace the hole at RW left by Kessel.
Kessel/Karlsson is a financial wash which is nice, but now creates too many contracts in the back end. It would likely come down to Schultz or Maatta and despite the logic Schultz is a RD making him the obvious option, the Pens are jammed at LD.
Dumo/Karlsson
JJ(just my guess)/Letang
Oleksiak/Schultz
Maatta can now be used to fill the RW position. Who could they potentially pick up for him that makes sense?

Kessel shouldn't be moved just because of one goal-quiet playoff-run and being a little pi8ed off by his use - 6,8mio is decent for 92pts and what he brings beyond... guess all this rumors around him are just there because people got sick of the yearly Malkin-wants-to-be-the-man-in-Chicago-talk... Karlsson (signed) is not really a wash but at least +5 mio more and therefore just realistic when moving out the same money on defense and/or maybe dumping Hagelin... just as a rental giving up too much is pretty stupid. |

I'd say move Määttä or Schultz alongside Kessel if we are serious about Karlsson (signed long term for $10-11M).
Keep Hagelin's cap hit to re-sign Guentzel.
I believe we'd be a better team.

Given that Karlsson plays the right, the obvious move would be Schultz. I think Maatta has the far superior contract and is the better player anyways.
This is a video game trade and will never happen, though. |

We're not though. Despite Johnson's contract, he's a bottom pairing defenseman. So is Oleksiak right now. If we moved Maatta instead of Schultz, we'd be jammed on the right side and short on the left with only one clear cut top 4 LD and three clear cut top 4 RDs (two of which are #1D caliber).

LD: Dumo, Maatta, Oleksiak, Johnson
RD: Letang, Schultz, Ruhwedel
Unless my math is wrong here, the Pens are jammed at LD. I threw Ruhwedel in there, but he’s the 7th dman.
I get where you’re coming from, but your talking about quality and where they should play , I’m talking about strict amount of LDs on this roster.
EDIT: I completely agree with you on JJ and Oleksiak, but from everything I’ve read in the media the Pens seem to feel differently. |

I've started typing a bunch of different comments about Kessel/Karlsson, but I keep stopping myself because it's an Eklund rumor.
But Vegas might still owe Rutherford for exposing Fleury, and Vegas has the kind of young assets and picks Ottawa should want, so it becomes more plausible. |
