He is also the casualty of poor partners & injuries. He’s lost with us being so unstable. He is not a leader on a pairing but his role is best suited as a solid complimentary partner.

He can't be a victim of poor partners when he drags everyone down. The best partner of his career was Brian Campbell when he was still an incredibly effective puck mover and skater.

There's no reason that you'd have a departure for the reasons they listed over anything else. Usually these kinds of departures happen after the season when everyone else is "mutually parting ways" and getting fired.

Not in the middle of summer at 5Pm on a Thursday after the guy leaving talked mere weeks ago about how excited he was for everything in the short term future: retiring the Twins sweaters, draft, incoming youngsters, 50th anniversary.

Very true.TL walked out for a reason. Amicable or other spins is owner BS.
Opposite views or opinions has to be why.

I hearya & we don’t have that type of complimentary player. Still doesn’t make EG anything special. Its all on him to break out & prove it. If not he’s fair game for eternity.

So he is here for 4 years and then wakes up and screams rebuild and stamps his feet saying the team is not rebuilding properly once his close friends retire . Seems a bit two faced .

Most of the heavy lifting is already done and then he decides to panic. Oh well see ya

I guess this is what I was trying to convey, I’ve read that Linden wanted to trade Sedins, Edler, Tanev and everyone else of value a couple of years ago...according to some talking mouth piece, and you are insinuating it happened last week when he woke up.

My take is...unless it is reported by Linden, Benning or Aquilini, I do not believe anything any mouth piece, wannabe mouth piece or blog posters posted on a rumour site or twitter (I can’t believe there is a demand for that bullsh!t).

Linden is gone, great see ya, Benning is still here until he isn’t, great glad to have you until you’re gone and then see ya.

Next GM and Pres your turn.

Its always interesting looking at these scouting charts. Like in Edmonton it just so happens to be full of former Oilers, ex-Oiler siblings, Chiarelli's brother, and MacLellan's dad.

Here, it just so happens to include Jimbo's kid, former Canucks from the 80s, FA's favourite player as a kid, and Crawford's dad.

like some of them might be dece at their job. but, especially when a team sucks, it just looks like cronyism/nepotism

yup...agree.
wager on whether JB is still the GM in one year? I'd take the "no" side of that bet...

Our maneuverability with cap space is very good & in the upcoming years. Problem is assets are not there. Mostly i can only expect minor hockey trades other than Tanev. I foresee a wait & see approach for the D & wingers. Something has to eventually give. When idk. JB has repeatedly said prospects who earn it will have a spot opened up. EP is a lock. Gagner is a casualty one way or another. Cannot seeing it playing out any other way unless he somehow miraculously goes crazy. Tweeners we have galore & it will make changes come to pass. Expecting mid round picks coming our way leading up to the 2019 draft here. 3rds & 4ths i’m guessing.

And for arguments sake, here is what those players that hamstrung the team with their NTCs returned in trades.
Kesler - 1st, two roster players
Bieksa - 2nd
Garrison - 2nd
Burrows - Dahlen
Hansen - Goldobin, 4th
Hamhuis - nothing
Higgins - nothing

Here are what Benning has gotten for his signings:
Motte from Vanek
Liepsic from Holm

conveniently overlooking that Benning was the guy who actually turned them into assets

Burrows just retired and Hansen just signed in the KHL so GMJB should get a statue for the returns on those players

What did he then do with those assets? that's where Benning shows his inabilities.

Most of those returns are solid. Higgins had negative value and hamhuis screwed us. He ultimately wasted a few of those returns down the road but most of them were a win at the time

I just wish he didn't trade away all the picks he traded for.

I liked the Bae trade but Vey was a huge bust. At the time I was supportive. It again came down to pro scouting. We were told Vey was the play driver for the Monarchs but that was clearly wrong. Toffoli and Pearson were driving the bus and Vey was a passenger. Why doesn’t Henning get sh!t on?

Like you said earlier, where there is smoke there is usually something burning nearby.
It certainly clears up a lot of things both observed and said in the past. I was never a Linden fan but this sure shows what shambles this ownership & management group are.

JB’s 1st season was a whirlwind of moves good & bad. Lots was to do then but been much steadier since other than LE.

Ideally Edler to TBL or NYI would fetch us some nice goodies. Lots of prospects to fetch out of. Helps the LHD logjam but weakens us as well which nobody would mind.

Pairings that might ensue...

Hutton/Tanev
OJ/EG
MDZ/Stecher
Pouliot

A little more mobile still rough around the edges. A way to break in OJ if he earns it & the following year for when Hughes likely signs.

Hughes/Tanev
OJ/EG
Hutton/Stecher
McEneney

All on the assumption on only Edler is dealt
