True but some are not happy if happy lol
Come on does it really matter what tabloid wannabes think about an NHL Pres?
Too much is made about their role & gets overstated here. Beyond the players & coach in the NHL its about prospects & the management that develops them. I’m more than satisfied thats in good shape. I do agree with many ppl here about the mixed messages from the past but i fully understood them. Now that TL has left its more than apparent it is due to impatience on the owners part. Speculation of a quick turnaround appears to be why. That said i’m not concerned that thought process will play out in reality. That delusion is apparent to anyone that knows 1 iota about the team & the time it will take for us to ascend. Funnier things have happened but betting a wooden nickle on it is still a waste. |

Linden is the dude that refused to say REBUILD for four years! - CanuckDon
If Linden wanted a true rebuild he could have got a boatload of prospects and draft picks by trading the Sedins and Edler when he came here. He should practice what he preaches
Not to mention every year getting a top 4 pick |

It's been said but he clearly had a change in mindset once the twins retired. Prior to that he was committed to trying to compete. |

Are people really that stupid or shallow that they can't make their own determination on what is and isn't proper and practical with the team.
I can only speak for myself, but I do not need anyone to adore, admire or idolize to know what the team direction should be.
I see constant references to so called connected media types by several people here. Pratt, Botchford, MacIntrye, Dahliwal, Beich, Willes......on and on. Then there are great discussions associated with the referenced article. Then a week(s) later it is repeated, now as an actual real life situation, no proof, no validation, no confirmation from involved parties..but by god where there is smoke then it's an actual fact.
So Linden wanted to trade the Sedins 3 years ago, Edler and Tanev also, I didn't have to be reassured by Linden to know this true, Botch said so...or was it Pratt, doesn't matter really, because it really happened, I read it here. - Makita
I’ve overheard countless conversations at games, bars, etc. A lot of casuals put blind faith into Linden |

So he is here for 4 years and then wakes up and screams rebuild and stamps his feet saying the team is not rebuilding properly once his close friends retire . Seems a bit two faced .
Most of the heavy lifting is already done and then he decides to panic. Oh well see ya |

Media calling the Canucks situation a "mutiny" franchise just get out of its own way sometimes. Not saying that's true but where there's smoke, there's usually some fire. - LeftCoaster
This is a horrible cliche. Wrong more often than not. |

Like you said earlier, where there is smoke there is usually something burning nearby.
It certainly clears up a lot of things both observed and said in the past. I was never a Linden fan but this sure shows what shambles this ownership & management group are.
Four more years of Eriksson. - Marwood
This applies to real fire. If you word it, "where there are rumours, there is truth" just doesnt have the same ring to it right? Its a horrible cliche to apply to rumours.

If you listened to the podcast its clearly stated by Botchford that Linden changed his views in the past couple of years and especially now that the Sedins have retired, thus the major differences of opinion from Benning who originally thought, and still to this day does, that he can accelerate things. - LeftCoaster
You make it sound like Linden is the one who can't make his mind up on the rebuild. What version would he want next year I wonder? Sounds familiar Lefty.

Very true. Linden is certainly not without fault. He wouldn't re-build while the Sedins were still playing and he signed off on the lame trades and the disgusting Loui Eriksson contract. - Marwood
Hold on a minute. This is screwing with the Linden was the only good thing in the front office narrative people are pushing. Mixed messages.

Can you imagine if Benning could have traded the twins and Edler 4 years ago ? You could have had 3 extra firsts 3 extra high end prospects and been in the running for McDavid Eichel Matthews Laine Nicco Dahlin .
Thanks Linden |

Easier said than done. I agree somewhat but it could never happen. I maintain we were hamstrung by cup runs & it was always going to be a painful process. |

"He must be good at his job or why else would he have it?"
Hear that a lot about any kind of management team/person in sports. I've worked for a lot of bosses that have failed upwards or knew how to play The Game at management level to move up despite performance. Dave Nonis is still employed. Peter Chiarelli manages a paycheque. It took nearly a decade for Jay Feaster's goodwill to run out as an executive, and when he was writing for THN people treated it as gospel.
My favourite conversation overheard at a game was some dude trying to impress these girls with his Canucks knowledge. "You know, a lot of people crap on the Gudbranson trade. But people forget Stecher was a throw-in on that deal and he has Norris potential all over him." |
