Its no coincidence they draft heavy from the KHL and the Q. Language challenges are ever present in Quebec, even with a large English speaking population in Montreal. I love Montreal and Quebec City, stunning and as close to "old Europe" that exists. But I would have a tough time moving my family there...

My father was in the military and there was an ice storm in Quebec/Ontario in early 1998 (I wasn't born yet). The military was sent to help people because there was no power and poop and apparently all the french people treated my father like poop.

You know a lot of french people will complain how there's barely any signs in Ottawa that are bilingual, but you go to Gatineau and it's ALL french. Haven't been to Montreal in quite some time, but again, mostly french signs.

Back when I started at Subway, there was this lady (I think, she looked like one of those people who WANT to get offended) that came in and she spoke perfect english. And she asks me IN ENGLISH: "Do you speak french" and since I'm working I'm polite and say "sorry, I do not" and she flips the (frank) out at me. How this is a bilingual community and that I'm supposed to know french. I really just wanted to respond to her "this is Ontario you female dog" but again I was working.

Its awesome living in Alberta, working in the Oil patch and watch Quebec block a pipeline while collecting BILLIONS in transfer payments and dumping poop into the St Lawrence... I hate painting all Quebecers with a single brush but perception is reality and the perception is the Quebec would be quite happy if the West pissed off...
