Can anyone explain to me why others seem to think the Flyers are in the Buffalo range of teams in the NHL. I would love to hear your take Bill.
"4. Couturier - here's the love for the Flyers - he's the most well-rounded centre in the east and takes all the toughs and is paid a fraction of his value. Why are the Flyers still so lame then?" - Peter Tessier
I know the season was disappointing to most Flyer fans, especially the oust in the 1st round and they are far from a powerhouse team, but really?
3rd in the division in a pretty tough Metro, a season most other teams would call a success and the Flyers are still lame? - Glak18
First round exit. It means you suck. If you really want a good laugh wade into the NBCSports Philly Facebook page on Flyers topics. It's like they want to go back to years of throwing away draft picks for the big name. Didn't the Flyers try that for almost 40 years and not win a cup?

Its because he probably knows that the Flyers have the second biggest traffic on this site and it would generate hits. |

Off topic but I'm interested to see if Brady Tkachuk signs in Ottawa or not. How nice would it be to watch Tkachuk and Farabee play a year together in BU? |

Is it really that?
Toronto hasn't made it past the 1st round since Dinosaurs roamed the earth, yet they are considered the next great dynasty since the Oilers because they signed Tavares. This isn't coming from just Leafs fans either. I guess it's much cooler to jump on the bandwagon and jump off when reality hits. |

My very first thought was hits and controversy, but this is not the first person or place who have said similar things. |

Just read an article on there today that lauded the Flyers new direction of drafting and developing while giving them a solid pat on the back for landing JVR in free agency due to that strategy. |

No question Brady is using college as leverage and I fully expect him to play at least 1 year for BU. |

My whole point is a player with the most skill or better skillset doesn't always win the role or is the best for the role. - Glak18
Got ya. I guess my point is more, just because an NHL coach puts a player in a role, does not mean that player is the best player for that position or maybe is not the best possible use of the roster.

It's "good for the league" if they can't lean on TO or Montreal as a flagship for the Canadian fanbase. That accounts for the Toronto love. The Flyers have been bad for half a decade or more depending on who you ask. They're going to have to win a round in consecutive seasons I believe before writers start counting them back among the league elites. They aren't seen as a threat to anyone right now. |

In the eyes of Flyers fans it is. Toronto and Canada media is always breaking their ankles on the Leafs. They do something it's great then as they realize it's going to not be as good they jump off the wagon as fast as they can. |

I wonder if he wants a year to sit back and see what happens in Ottawa before he signs. I'm not sure I'd want my kid walking into that mess if he can play in the NCAA for a couple seasons and potentially leverage his way out if needed. |

As a longshot,
I think Myers makes club outta camp and he and Sanheim go on to be a solid pair that can slot into any circumstance. - Konalover
Certainly possible, but I can’t see Hak putting the 2 of them together right away. If Myers makes the team out of camp, the odd man out would likely be Hagg or Gudas and Folin could end up being moved or waived unless they open with 8 D |

What's you definition of bad? The biggest pride I take from the Flyers organization is they still compete even when things are bad. Even the late 80's and early 90's were bad, but they righted the ship without sinking to the lows of bottoming out for a decade. |

I personally think he wants the college experience and degree, otherwise he would of taken his brother's route. Even if he signs next year it is a lot easier to finish the degree when you have started already. He has no need to raise his stock, he was already drafted. I think it is a mix between Ottawa issues and school commitment. |

Yeah I know the best community is here but it's fun to watch the idiots act like they know exactly how a hockey team should run and that they'd never have anything turn out like the Wiese signing did. |

Bottoming out for a decade is as low as you can go. Not making the playoffs and getting ejected in the first round when you do puts you easily into the bottom half of the league and that's certainly not good. To me they've been a bad team since 2011. They made good strides last season but they still have a huge hole to fill in the back. There's no underselling that and everyone knows it. |
