Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said he ... did not feel that Hägg clicked on the ice with Radko Gudas in their brief time together.
Let's review. Gudas didn't "click" with Sanheim. He didn't "click" with Gostisbehere. Hmmm. I wonder where the problem is? |

I personally think he wants the college experience and degree, otherwise he would of taken his brother's route. Even if he signs next year it is a lot easier to finish the degree when you have started already. He has no need to raise his stock, he was already drafted. I think it is a mix between Ottawa issues and school commitment. - Glak18
Not is stock, his leverage. The longer he stays in college the more restless Ottawa is going to become. They're dealing with a disaster to the point where the talking heads in Canada are actually starting to wonder if they'll be sold and relocated. The longer he stays in college, the more impatient Ottawa becomes for their first round pick, the better chance he can leverage a trade if he quietly doesn't want to play for that management.
It's just a whim of circumstance, but it's something that crossed my mind. Nothing more. |

Bottoming out for a decade is as low as you can go. Not making the playoffs and getting ejected in the first round when you do puts you easily into the bottom half of the league and that's certainly not good. To me they've been a bad team since 2011. They made good strides last season but they still have a huge hole to fill in the back. There's no underselling that and everyone knows it. - mayorofangrytown
That may be the case, but since 2011 the Flyers made the playoffs 5 out of those 8 years. There are many organizations that would cut their arm off for that success. That's why I truly fell in love with this organization and became a fan so long ago, bad times for Flyer fans can be looked at as good for others. Only acceptable season for the Flyers is one that ends with a parade.

No. He did not pass my eye test at all and I think the stats support me. He struggles to exit his own zone and treats the puck like its a live grenade. Other than his own goal where he took it down the wing and placed a perfect shot, his offense was almost non existent. Sure he can hit well and hes decent at seperating players from the puck, but in todays league you need to be able to do more. That being said, I know he is just a rookie so I hope he can improve but I don;t think he has the potential to develop into a full time nhl starter. - bulet13
Hagg has not hit his ceiling yet. He is still adapting and has been the victim of the Flyers mismanagement of their defensive pairs. Hagg is what the Flyers hoped Morin would be when they drafted him: He hits anything that moves, has a strong stick, blocks shots, a decent shot himself, and is positionally responsible. In addition, he skates better than Morin and doen't take bad penalties. He will be a top 4 defenseman and a fixture on the PK when the coaches figure out how to use him. |

I don't know, Morin's long stride is a gorgeous work of art. |

You're gonna have to clarify which gaff you're referring to. |

Swearing six ways to Sunday that arichardson offered him an alt account via private messages or some poop. He said he had the screenshots to prove it and said he'd upload them but then conveniently disappeared into the void when arichardson called his bluff. |

IMO Morin is a much better skater than Hagg.
I don't think Hagg is bad, and some of the things he does are nice. Paired with Gudas or AMac is a tire fire though and I seriously hope they stop doing that. I like him paired with someone who is able to move the puck up the ice, but honestly I prefer two guys who can move the puck up the ice the most - YuenglingJagr
Exactly. And its idiotic to have your two most consistent puck movers paired together, leaving solid D with less break out ability to be paired together for 20 minutes a night.
Also, Hagg is quicker at getting moving than Morin on his skates, which is more important for a defender than top speed, and he is also more in control. he stops and starts very well. Morin might be a better speedskater, but Hagg is a better hockey skater. |

I know about being spoiled by this team but if you look at it realistically the last 6 seasons have been as bad a stretch for this team as they've ever had with the exception of the Jay Snider/Russ Farwell orchestrated 5 year drought and at the very least in the middle of that they landed Lindros.
I've been tied to this team since the mid 70's and this is a horrible stretch for the team from my perspective. There's been literally zero hope for a championship. I can't fault outsider media for feeling the same things I do watching every move doggedly. |

Morin would be a good long distance speedskater. But if I need a defender to react to attacking opponents, I take Hagg every time. |

yeah as of now they have roughly 34 million in cap space and even if you try to assume the most expensive side
provorov - 8
konecny - 6
laughton - 3
sanheim - 4
goalie - 3
10 million left with with 5-7 roster spots left (at least half of which will likely be < $1) - YuenglingJagr
I think that if the Flyers play TK on any other lines than with G and Coots, for any significant amount of time, he won't be getting paid anywhere near $6M. He isn't really that good. A player that needs to be elevated by his linemates instead of elevating them isn't worth north of $3M. And Laughton will be lucky to get league minimum. |

I don't see that. Again I'm looking at from the context of judging him not as a puck mover but as a stay at home defender type. I think the best description is he makes the simple play. He's not a guy that is going to under heavy forecheck pressure spring himself out and make a tape to tape pass to spring a forward on a breakout. He is capable of making the routine plays that a defenseman needs to make on the breakout. - MJL
