We’ll see how this year goes
After his hot start last year,
Pommer seemed avaerage at best the rest of the way
I’d be surprised if we signed him again after this season - jdfitz77
Yeah, not gonna happen. On the upshot for him, looks like the Senators are gonna need to spend to get to the floor |

90 points is my call. Fall just short. Somewhere around 9th or 10th in the conference - SabreWest
All depends on where they are for the TDL.
If they’re fighting for a spot they’ll be buyers. |

Anyone have a guess to what another deal might be? - SDSabre
MTL is supposedly not happy with what teams are offering for Patch
Maybe this trade sets the market for him?
Homie has said that the Sabres have had multiple talks with MTL about him
So maybe Pacioretty if they’re willing to drop their price?

Wtf are you talking about? I can have it any way I want it. If I think the past gm got fired too early, I can think that. If I think Botts did a nice job bringing in Skinner for nothing I think is meaningful, I can think that. They are independent events. Go try to paint somebody else in a corner. - Hatboro_Swords
You claim the archives don't lie all the time. You should go back and read some of your own stuff about Botts and GMTM. I think you painted yourself into a corner. Beautiful thing about being a person is the ability to change your mind when new information presents itself. Turns out GMTM usually got fleeced for elite talent, where being patient, similar talent could be had for pennies. |

I'd say 35-40 wins. Put us on track, but still improvement needed while the last of the dead weight contracts come off. |

i’m honestly not sure are we going to be trading for another winger ? That just seems like overkill doesn’t It - gerbe75pts

I might even go this way for the top 6
Skinner Jack Okposo
Sheary Casey Sam
Okposo is defensively decent to help Jack and Skinner in that regard. - Stripes77
I’d guess they try different groupings with those 6 to see who works best together |

Anything lower than low-80s in points is really bad.
Botts gave Housley the horses, now he's gotta make em run |

One option is you get to training camp, you see who's who in the pecking order, then probably see what you can get for one or two of Bowls, Johan Girgensons or Nick Bailey.
I can't imagine a blockbuster at this stage. Perhaps some tinkering or one of the guys above being traded for a low pick and a useful AHL guy? Who knows. - TheSabresTaco
Wouldn’t mind seeing Botts pull off the
4 for 1 trade that Homie was talking about |

Can Ottawa trade Stone now?
If so, can he immediately sign an extension? - jcragcrumple
I’d trade a 1st + for him
Stone would easily be my top trade target |

We would have to shed some salary. 2 firsts, Nylander, Okposo and Borgen?
It's a ton to give up, but....
Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart
Sheary-Mitts-Stone
That's a pretty nasty top-6 |

What you would do - SabreWest
Sheary-Eichel-Okposo
*wanna get Okposo’s stats up so we can trade him next offseason hopefully
Skinner-Mittelstadt-Reinhart
Sobatka-Berglund-Pominville
Bailey-Rodrigues-Baptiste
*hoping that as the season moves along, any of these guys look good enough to move up & replace Pommer &/or Sobatka
Wilson as the extra
Trade Larsson & Girgensons for whatever we can get
Thompson & the other kids in Rochester |

I don’t think Okposo is tradable right now
Right now we have 6.47mil in Cap room,
so yeah...
we would have to move out some salary to afford him & sign Sam
To get a guy as good as Stone though,
I’d figure out some way to make it work with the Cap
He’s sweet |

That's why I threw in the 2nd first. Stone also has a great 2-way game. I'm just getting greedy at this point, but stone would be awesome.
Given Ottawa's reduced leverage with their bizarre signing, because now a team can't re-sign him until January, I think a realistic proposal would be Reinhart and a 2nd?
Don't think I would do it. We're opening up a good chunk of cap next year, I would have no problem opening up the wallet for him July 1, 2019 |

You hit it. We're close enough to the cap that money in has to equal money out. That makes it significantly harder to swing a big deal.

My prediction:
Goaltending alone gets this team 4 more wins off the bat so they go from 62 points to 70 points.
Having Skinner and Sheary in the top 6 gives them 3 more wins so 70 points to 76 points.
Having Eichel play a full season gets them 3 more wings so 76 points to 82
Not having Gorges in the lineup and having Dahlin instead gives them 2 more wins 82 points to 86
Having a 3rd and 4th line of real NHL players and not just a bottom 6 of total scrubs gives them 2 more wins so 86 points to 90
Sabres finish with 14 more wins than last season
39-31-12 90 points |

We’ll have a lot of competition though
And he probably gets more as a free agent then if we trade for & extend him |

I am safe in assuming that you are not a fan of Girgenson? The boys on the Instigators said that he is having a great summer working with Matt Ellis at Harbor Center getting his game back in order. I prefer to keep him a little longer, he is still young and he does things well that would serve him in a bottom 6 role. |
